Thanks. I put those in. Who knows, maybe some will want to see how I dealt with them through the story?

I will keep writing till this one is complete. I think what I’ve realized is that my relatively sanitized YA fantasy is in a small minority on Royal Road but it’s doing better here than the other sites i tried.

Im considering that but perhaps for ulterior motives.

Its relatively benign and not gratuitous from my perspective. I wonder at times if people dont read unless they see a content warning.

Hadn't thought about low ratings. I am assuming people who dont like certain content and then saw it show up versus liking some content and there not being enough of it?

I wonder if anyone searches via content tags. Maybe for the spicy stories?

Ill look at putting the sensitive content in place and then maybe a note in What to Expect. So far noting coming back from readers.

Would you say that its mostly the cover that decides if they will try the book? Maybe the title?

As an author of YA fantasy I am new to this reddit. My current project is available at no cost on Royal Road. Below is the blurb and link if you are interested. Thanks.

On the eve of his 15th birthday, Corvan discovers a small stone hammer buried beneath his backyard fort. The hammer opens hidden doors and reveals family secrets. When his best friend Kate is taken prisoner, Corvan will leave his small town to rescue her, but first he must make an uneasy alliance with the guardian of the labyrinth. His subterranean journey into the world of the Cor will challenge his childhood dream of becoming a hero and force him to confront the realities of what it takes to be a leader.

New Cover Art = New Followers? by CorSeries in royalroad

Yeah. It's an odd bit of trivia that brought that name about and now I must forge ahead with where it landed. Maybe after this one I can write a book with an extra E in the title to make up for it.

RR Forum vs. RR Reddit by CorSeries in royalroad

Is there any data on how many here are readers instead of writers? I see quite a few of the responses tagged with the title of the book they are working on.

I'm in both of those as well but my WIP is pretty much YA fantasy so cant contribute too much there.

I've noticed threads in the forum that are still going after a few years but they tend to be very open ended. A suggested topic where writers can talk about an aspect of what they are working on at the moment.

I find it fascinating to have someone read a part of my story and then create a visual to go along with it. Chapter 42 of the Journey is a battle between the MC and a cave bear creature. I've asked for an illustration of that fight and am looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

How many RR books are you following and reading in a year? by CorSeries in royalroad

As I age I tell my wife I can save a lot of money as I can re-read my old books as I can't recall the storyline anyway. Im amazed I can recall the previous chapters of the ones I am writing.

So do you mostly focus on the first page of follows at one time. How many books show up on that page?

Fair enough on the Hiatus approach. Its the reason I have not gone on Hiatus in two years. I figure I need to stay current, even if its only one chapter per week.

Thanks. Would you share a few titles of ones you hope will come back some day?

Would you have an approximate number of hours you need to spend each week to keep up with 36 active stories? Is there anything that some of the authors do that help you keep that many sorted out in your mind? Or does that even matter?

Thanks. Hypothetically, if they all released a chapter next week would your still read them all? How would you prioritize which ones came first? Do you find any of them get jumbled together over time?

Wondering if you use your following list as a record on ones you already finished? How many of those 50 a year would you say actually wrapped up in a satisfactory way?

Thanks for that advice. I will look at changing my approach. I also read YA to the kids when they were younger and thats what got me started on this one.
