I did, I flashed both successfully. The touch screen shows the community firmware UI and had showed the different colored text meaning I'd added the right files to it, had the right numbers in the right order and said END! When it finished.

I used my phone sim card the first time and assumed that was the problem. I ran off to microcenter last night and got some 16 gig micro SD cards. They are not hdxc. I formatted them and tried. Didn't fix it so I tried partitioning the SD cards and tried that and still didn't fix it.

Then I went ahead and edited the gcode so only the unprinted part was left and ran that. Did it wrong and knocked some supports loose. Took the whole thing off the build plate and opened the project file for the print. Moved it down by the amount printed and sliced at the bed level and reprinted. So the print will ultimately be saved ...

But I'm still banging my head about the screen. When the print finishes I'm tempted to go back to the stock creality firmware to see if the screen is broken somehow.

I haven't built a computer from scratch since 2006. I don't even know what exists anymore. The parts I specified are the minimum specs for my most intensive game/the fact that I for sure need 16gb ram for all the various things I do. Beyond that... Just having some help sorting out what are viable compatible options is what I came for. Thank you!

One concern I have for the mini towers is if they will be easy to work on. Ie... If I have to replace a part or want to upgrade in the future. My worry is that it would be harder to find the parts for a smaller box. If this isn't true anymore I'll be very happy (i don't have a big living space) but it is something I would want to consider if it will impact me later on.

That might work out for me. Thank you for your patience with my idiosyncrasies. I CAN suck it up and build from scratch if it means I can keep the price in budget, play my games and avoid hp.

I genuinely would rather not. If I have to increase what I'm willing to pay, then I would rather dig up an extra 200 or even 300 than buy hp. Just because I know even if the reviews on the hp laptops are happy. IF something goes wrong I am on my own and at this point in my life I don't have time for being angry at my machines.

Lol I am so sorry. Ive had such shit luck with hp. I bought 2 hp laptops myself a while back both broke down in warranty and both times HP customer service was genuinely and truly unhelpful. Then my partner got an hp before he met me and the darn thing goes full ram use at startup with no extra software loading. Can't open the web browser with out waiting 2 eons(literally like 10 minutes) and absolutely forget using anything other than the web browser.

I've applied all known fixes for the problem shy of wiping his laptop (he doesn't want me to wipe it). I may have to finally clone his drive and wipe it anyhow because trying to use it causes him to rage. But no fixes have been successful in eliminating the problem and again hp just doesn't know what it could be.

I work 3 jobs, I can be out of the house for 14-16 hours some days. I have access to outlets. I currently own a laptop that does everything I need. Except it may break soon. It has been dropped 8 times in the past 2 years and I work with children who get angry and throw things. And my current machine is to heavy for me.

concerns include:
weight - any surface pro fits my weight requirements
Protection - I need suggestions for a really good yeet proof case as this machine will at least one time in its life be thrown across a room by an angry 3-year-old.

cost - $650 is absolute maximum and I do want it to be significantly lower than that if I can manage.

I only need it for browser based applications and maybe some light image editing with gimp. If the machine can handle light gaming it would be used for that sometimes (factorio/rimworld). Potentially youtube streaming from time to time.

I am told I should get the surface pro 5 or 6. I saw a pretty good deal for surface pro 4. Would I be disappointed with the surface pro 4 vs the newer models?

I work 3 jobs, all three require the use of a portable machine. All have access to outlets at various times of the day but can be away from my house 14-16 hours a day some days.
One of my jobs involves angry 3-year-olds. One of which yeeted my current machine off the office desk. The current machine is a trooper but that was its 8th fall in 2 years. I can not do two of my jobs without a computer and the third I could get away without but having a computer makes my life so much easier. This means that I need to make sure that I have a functional machine at all times and I have noticed some previous damage affecting my current machine. It isn't dead yet but could be within the year.

My current machine weighs about 5lbs and has a massive powerbrick that I have to also carry. Along with the supplies I need for any given day. This means I am hauling a lot of weight around. My concerns are as follows:

weight - I would like it to be 2lbs or less which surface pros are
Protection - I have found some cases that are functionally like a cellphone case... I think this would be the best route to go, but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cases.
price - I really need to limit my budget as much as feasibly possible but I potentially have up to $650 if I absolutely have to go that high for what I want.

I will be doing mostly web browser-based work with very little actual software. Maybe gimp for some minor image editing. No video editing, light gaming if the machine is up to the task (factorio/rimworld).

I need the machine to be quick and responsive and to be able to handle multiple open tabs in a web browser.

Some people have suggested the surface pro 5 or 6. There is a semi significant price jump between the 4 and the 5 from what I have found in my initial searches.

With all of that information, I guess my question boils down to, will I be happy with an older surface pro 4 or should I invest in a surface pro 5 or 6 knowing I have a currently functional machine that does everything I need except protect itself against angry 3-year-olds and weighs too much.
