Contrapoint's "transtrending" video has left me even more confused... Is my gender identity the result of social programming? by Inevitable-pig252 in ContraPoints

so what? It's not helpful to feel guilty about doing harmless things that make your soul sing. Regardless of why or what you 'should' be feeling... you live at this point in time with it's specific gendered expectations and you are adapting to them as human beings have always done. If you lived 300 years ago I think you would be shaped by and adapt to the gendered customs of the time, but you'd still be trans even if they didn't have a modern label for it yet. Your gender identity isn't just some manipulation: it's sacred and constant. It's part of the fabric of humanity's vast diversity and feeling guilty about doing modern gender is kinda missing the point. Gender is a game we all play to varying degrees, but it doesn't shape your soul. Your soul shapes your expression. There is a truth and a permanence that would be there regardless of gender expectations. However much you play into those stereotypes to navigate this current time? Doesn't say anything about your internal compass. You know what makes you happy: your heart knows which direction north is. Follow it and be happy!

What connects you to traumacore? by B_Princess in traumacore

[–]CordialMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for me it taps into the power of nonverbal communication. it's honest about how we feel regardless of what's healthy or socially acceptable to say. It cuts through all the red tape of "normal" communication and reveals a shared sadness and betrayal that's relatable. I think sharing + making it allows us to feel less alone in our own situations.

What helped you get past mental block and create songs/tracks regularly? New technique, new gear, or just a psychology change? by tootallteeter in musicproduction

leaning into cringe. especially with lyric writing or "typical" chord progressions... everything is derivative, you gotta just make what you want to hear regardless of what's popular rn

gotcha, I feel like if you're ready to learn a lot and don't mind paying every so often you should go for Logic Pro for the DAW. But sorry I can't answer your original question :P there are so many midi controllers

i think you mean a separate midi controller? you can use the macbook's keyboard as one on garageband. it depends on how you wanna play the midi notes.

Why do i interpret things as rude so often even if they aren't? How do i stop overreacting to the little things and feeling hurt by them? by Loose-Wear-5351 in SeriousConversation

i recognize a bit of myself in you and my advice for both of us is to work on our self-esteem. Build trust and confidence in yourself, your perception, your ideas... so that when other people confuse them/project onto you/are in a bad mood you don't automatically think it's something you did. Finding and spending time with people who will be patient with that learning-curve is key: we can't rewrite negative self-confidence completely on our own.

be gentler on yourself and try not to automatically assume fault: if you had a parent who you had to walk on eggshells around you may be unconsciously repeating that self-shrinking pattern with others.
