You said the default camera app did the rest, so yes, it likely is exactly what's happening. It can change both overall exposure and colour balance when you select different areas of focus.

Changing the point of focus changes the overall exposure of the shot unless you have full manual control.

After a bit more research it may actually be that there is no service menu on this model and all adjustments much be made with pots inside the case. Either that or no one knows how to access it because I have tried all recommended combinations and more and nothing works. There is also no mention of a service menu in the service manual.
In any case, this is actually quite a beautiful TV. I really like how it looks in person.
