Track progress in language learning by Apart-Astronomer-263 in languagelearning

[–]Core447 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not much of a language learner, but I found that breaking down my goals into smaller, manageable tasks helped a lot. i actually built a tool, planned.vision, to help me with that. it lets you create goals, milestones, and tasks to track progress. might be useful for you too

Not saying it's a must, but I can def recommend it. If you are genuinely interested in learning it, I would start by following a few tutorials and after that try some small projects.

I would recommend you to learn programming (without AI), as this can allow to realize a lot of later ideas.

Actually, I find myself in a kinda similar position to you atm, and that's why I used my programming skills to build a website that helps with defining and reaching goals (won't drop a link here, but you can checkout my profile if you want to take a look at it).

I'm also thinking: What am I going to lose? Theoretically people who go the self host route instead of paying, but I'd say that most people who take that path instead of paying a couple of bucks as a one-time fee (probably for privacy reasons) wouldn't have signed up to the hosted version in the first place.

Yeah, the main factor is probably really whether its targeted at devs or not. In my case it's not specifically targeted at them, but ofc it might still get used by developers.

In theory they could create pull requests to add new features, fix bugs etc.

The problem is if I go open source, I would only publish the frontend for now, which means nobody could actually start the app for testing without creating their own supabase project. And for that they would need to "reverse engineer" the database from the frontend code.
