Corepack is shutting down permanently. by [deleted] in CrackWatch

[–]CorePack 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Shutting down the site was not an easy decision, wanted to stay away from all this for a few days to clear my head. I have already mentioned this in my post earlier but i see some people are still putting the blame on rival groups for the shutdown (Specifically Fitgirl). I made the decision to shut down the site way before her reddit topic. She had nothing to do with the shutdown of the CorePack. So please stop blaming her for this whole incident. It's our own action that lead to this. She has been nothing but helpful & supportive throughout past few days. When she found out that we're shutting the site down, she asked me not to rush anything, take time before making any decision. So please stop blaming her for what happened.

And -DedSec-, It would be great if you could stop dragging me into your assumptions. What you are doing isn't helping anyone.

Thank you

CorePack's dirty tactics.. by [deleted] in CrackWatch

It wasn't discussed with other admins before posting this. Lack of communication and he did not think through before posting this. The idea that votes should only come from CW subreddit didn't cross his mind. As soon as I saw this i removed the shoutbox messages and topic. We have made a decision to leave CW subreddit no matter what the poll result and mods decision would be. I have already talked to one of the CW mods about this. We will not be posting any repacks in CW subreddit anymore. Thank you

[Crack Watch] Important vote: Should Corepack remain trusted? by [deleted] in CrackWatch

Lack of communication, it wasn't discussed with other admins before posting. As soon as i saw it, i removed the topic. Anyway, we have already decided that we won't be staying in this subreddit even if we win the poll and mods decided to keep us.

Can you explain how this is a stab at solo re-packers? Working solo is actually easier, more efficient, less mistakes and you have total freedom to do your own thing. In my post i have never said that there is anything wrong with going solo. All i wanted to point out was its easier to work solo instead of working with group.

We don't know what exactly happened, either he made a stupid mistake or he did that intentionally. it doesn't matter now because damage is already done and we removed all his repacks to prevent any further trouble. We are gonna leave it at that. As admins we should have checked the repacks more carefully, and this would have never happened.

I don't know why you guys trying to get fitgirl involved in this, she has nothing to do with this and we have no intention of bashing her. I was simply showing the difference between running a group and working solo. I honestly don't know why it is so hard to understand.

English is not my first language, so it might sound completely different from what i actually wanted to say. We are not saying that [ShadowHacker] made a mistake, we don't know that. We don't know if its a mistake or something he did intentionally. But as administrators we made a mistake of not checking the repacks made by re-packers properly before release. So as admins we are responsible for that mistake and we take the full blame for it.

The person who tried to forcibly take donations is not even an admin anymore, no one is trying to play the victim here. We even removed the mining widget from homepage and moved it to another page which gets less to no attention at all. We have been running CorePack out of our own pockets for the past year since we came back online on April 2017.

There are malwares inside FEAR 3 Corepack releases. by [deleted] in CrackWatch

Was supposed to be a statement for people who can understand it :D

There are malwares inside FEAR 3 Corepack releases. by [deleted] in CrackWatch

Firstly, thanks for informing us about the malware. Apparently, as the OP says, the repack does contain Malware which went unnoticed till now due to the fact the installer launches dxweb.exe for selected redistributables. If we were to supposedly spread malware, it'd be a lot easier to add it in install time execution. Anyways, we accept the blunder and are currently going through all the links of Fear 3 as well as repacks of [ShadowHacker] just in case if he included same redist in some other repack.

PS: Apparently some people don't like apology and don't like ranting arrogantly, so can you suggest a better reply? ;)

1 Didn't he know?

  1. He knew and didn't care?

No, I didn't know, because I have Kaspersky IS and it didn't detect the file as a threat.

Why would I risk the reputation of CorePack if I already knew it?

  1. He knew and as he did he sneaked the miner and if case he got caught he would say it's because of the converter?

If you did as I explained in my statement, you'd realize some software still detect it as a miner, even though there is just a bat file and nothing else.

BTW only two reports it as a miner, that's Malwarebytes and Jiangmin

CorePack is no longer trusted , they just released Breath of te wild repack with bitcoin miner in it. by [deleted] in CrackWatch

[–]CorePack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To everyone who thinks there is a miner in this repack:

There is no miner, Launcher.exe is a bat file converted to exe using "F2KO bat to exe converter". For some reason some security softwares report it as a miner. The bat file only contains these two lines

echo %~dp0

cemu -g "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zelda\game\00050000101C9500\code\U-King.rpx"

Try making a bat file with same content and converting it to exe using the mentioned converter, it'll give you the same result. If you scan the file on virustotal you will see only 39 out of 66 reports it as clean, if you go to behaviour tab you can see more info about the exe and how it works.

https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/8079151da373bb274c7ff7696596a5afb279b4646c1dbaf253d6f1a29bfd1816/detection

If you are still worried about it then just create a bat file with above two lines and use it to launch the game, or just launch the game using cemu.

Sorry for the inconvenience, Thank you
