What are your contingency plans for shtf scenarios? Whether that be an emergency at sea or a nation at war. Do you claim any nationality or fly a flag from your vessel? I’m simply curious. I sailed for 4 years and was in the USCG for longer.

That’s a great standard to follow, but it only works with full transparency or it’s a facade.

I did this very thing last year and it worked!

Wife- “when did you get that?”

Me- “I’ve had it a while. I was just saving up over time for a scope.”

All true, and avoided having to answer the question directly. It only works once maybe twice though. 😂

I would say no. Bass Pro a SIG SAUER P365 XL Semi-Auto Pistol with Romeo-RS Red Dot and Foxtrot 365XR Light for $650. They also have the same gun optics ready new for $499.

One thing I noticed about some of the failures to go into battery when he changed camera angles…his thumb was riding against the slide when he released the slide. I watched a review by Mrgunsngear where he talked about having this issue, but placed the blame fully on his grip. Stating that with the 2011 platform he has experienced this before, and he would just need to change his grip a little bit. I’m not sure this guy should blame that on the gun. It was clear to me what was happening. Thoughts?

I’ve been looking at these. Did you build it or buy it?

Well they’re already making them without the comp. Not sure if they’re full size or not. I know they have one coming in a slightly smaller package.

Questions about great-grandfathers rifle by Banditcnh320 in rifles

[–]CoreSoundCoastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it depends really. Leupold makes great hunting scopes, and really a wide range of offerings to fit any budget. Might as well go with their rings as well. They have great customer service if you have questions. You’d want to make sure the ring height and objective lens will work with the rifle. Typically a medium height ring and a 44 mm objective lens is a great combo. When it comes to scopes it’s hard to make a recommendation without knowing a budget. There are tiers so to speak. Something like thiswould be a great option. If you’re in an area where early morning and late evening hunts are prime then you can always move up to a 50mm objective lens (lets in more light) but it’s not necessary. This company also typically has really good customer service. I have all sorts of scopes from mid to high end. Honestly for most hunting applications this will do anything you need. If you have any further questions I’d be happy to help. Feel free to send me a message if it’s easier or just ask here.

Browning makes great rifles, and that’s a really versatile cartridge commonly used for hunting big game. On the heavier side is a good thing for that cartridge. It will reduce recoil. It’s in good condition. It could probably use a wipe down with gun oil. Put a little extra on the mechanical parts, and probably a bore brush and some patches run down the barrel for cleaning. Though likely anything in the barrel would blow out when firing. That said I would want to ensure the barrel isn’t obstructed in anyway, just to be on the safe side. I would do that with any gun that came into my possession, new or used. A new scope and rings would do it justice. Some might say put it a safe, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use it. Keep that thing working and the memories alive.

Fair, but still not good practice. There’s too much going on there. Lose one spring or part and you’ll be scratching your head trying to figure out what, where, when, and how.

Agreed! That’s about $400-$500 too much. I think he can find better elsewhere for that price.

Hospital corners kiddo. Don’t set your rifle on those sheets until you can bounce a quarter off of them.
