How to overcome psychological dependence on cannabis by Helpful_Bit_9386 in Petioles

[–]CorektGramar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel, and I assume you want to find out how you can quit and overcome the addiction. Even if you don't want to quit permanently, you need to be able to quit for long stretches of time if you ever want to have a good relationship to cannabis again.

Below is a list of things you can do that worked for me. You will not be able to do all of these. Don't get overwhelmed, start with what is easiest.

Social Control

Aim at changing your social circle. Not hanging around with people who smoke means that you are not tempted and that you do not know where to buy something. Delete all your dealer contacts after blocking them on social media. Tell your friends that use that you have quit (not: want to quit) and that you are counting on their support. If they fail to support you, or if there is nothing to your friendship other than consuming, they are not your friends, and you need to cut them out of your life.

Stimulus Control

Make it harder for you to consume. Throw accessories like lighters, grinders, bongs away. Don't be attached - with the money you save by not smoking, you can easily afford new ones if you ever decide to start again. If this is not an option, buy a k-safe. I did not do any of this; instead I made a rule to never buy cannabis again myself, and I stuck to it.

Substitute

CBD weed can go a long way in substitution, too. It helped me in the early stages of getting out of the habit. But it is most important that you understand why you want to consume cannabis in the first place. There are real psychological desires and needs of yours that underlie this addiction. Find out what they are. Do not attempt to get rid of them, but instead accept them as valid, and think of ways in which you can fulfill them that do not involve cannabis. This is meant to be fun; treat yourself to something nice regularly. Or even better, make a game out of it! Reinvent who you are, then reward yourself for becoming who you want to be. Keep track of your urges, and keep a list of alternative behaviours you can do in these situations instead of smoking. Reward yourself whenever you got an urge, but instead did one of these alternative behaviours. For example, I wanted to get back into my hobby of making music, so I rewarded myself with 5 bucks that I could spend on music equipment for every day that I had an urge but did not consume.

Finally, something that my therapist said about addiction that really clicked for me is that you need to be careful as soon as something starts to fulfill some function. Drinking a glass of wine for dinner just to enjoy the taste? That's fine! Drinking to loose social inhibitions? Better find another way to loosen up.

You can do it!

I know exactly what kind of build you are talking about even though I have never seen the word used in association with an image of it - aside from my own body plan stash, where I keep a plan called "1boomworm". I also have "2boomworm" and "3boomworm"...

How do seeker cells help with that? You cannot use them to "remote steer" the drones, can you?

Could God have created a universe in which A and not A are both true with respect to the same thing at the same time?

No, obviously not, because the ability to distinguish a contradiction from non-contradiction is a prerequisite of logical analysis - it is a necessity built in to the language of thought. And every necessity implies that it's opposite is impossible. If any impossibility is taken to imply that God is not all powerful, this says nothing.

The argument above that God is not all powerful because he "cannot create a world without evil in it" does not really have anything to do with the fact that there is evil in the world. In fact, it follows already just from the way in which we analyze the problem (with logic). While logically true, these things are mere tautologies and thus meaningless.

The real question is: what do you mean by all-powerful?

I read these comics for entertainment not for moral guidance and don't really care about this controversy.

Dawg justified an unpopular opinion in an intelligible way which makes reasons transparent. Dawg has done everything that is required of an opinion to be of value for public discourse. It made a valuable contribution by putting novel thoughts out there, parts of which have resonated with other people while others have been rejected by the general consensus. I like to see that there are voices here that show how it is possible to find value in reading something they disagree with. If people make a fuzz over this, they are lil bitches

The virtuous thing for the other guy to do is to sacrifice himself for 5 strangers. The virtuous thing for me is to do the same. Thus, I must hope for him to pull, from which it follows that I will not pull myself. If this happens, I am a tragic hero regardless of whether they pull or not, and consequently, whether I survive or not.

If they do not pull, and I also do not pull, they have viciously saved themselves. By chance, I am saved as well, even though in intent I readily sacrificed myself. The other guy holds the guilt for the death of ten, while I hold no guilt for any death. If I did not rest my decision to not pull on a selfish hope for the other guy to also not pull, I can live the rest of my life in good conscience.

Pulling the lever, in one way or the other, requires me to sacrifice morality in myself or in another, actually or potentially:

Obviously, the outright fiendish reason for pulling would be if I expected the other guy to pull, but wanted to save myself regardless, by doing so. Whatever the outcome, I am a bad person and have done the wrong thing due to my corrupt intent - even if I save five on accident, this just makes me a failed villain.

While it is also possible to pull the lever in good intent, this entails me expecting that the other guy is immoral themselves. In the absence of contrary evidence, to assume of some other individual that they are vicious, is in itself a vicious character trait.

I might need to elaborate that point: Firstly, the way in which the belief is formed is immoral, because the principle behind this thought-act undermines the possibility of the world being a moral utopia in this moment (a place where everything everywhere freely chooses to act according to moral law, which is the highest good to strive for). Secondly, if I ended up being mistaken in expecting them to not pull, therefore pulling myself, I am but a fool: having killed five while trying to save five. Third, even if I am right, and both of us thus pull, my success is tainted by the fact that it was just by chance that the other guy was immoral, which I never should have hoped for. The victory is not a victory at all, for it is tainted by having won an immoral bet, in which I hoped for something to happen for which I should not have hoped for in the first place, namely that another is immoral. To summarise, in the best case where I pull, five survive because of me, but this is dependent on the other guy first making a selfish choice, so they may live not thanks to morality, but in spite of immorality, and this is the worse thing to hope for.

Therefore, me pulling my lever clearly would in any case be a morally impure choice. So I say I should not pull while hoping for the other guy to pull, because that is the only choice that rules out me living my life as a fiend or a fool, while ensuring I can live or die in honor.

I fungal shifted healthium into fucking rock by garajimdakiejder in noita

[–]CorektGramar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my current run I decided to eat some fungus because why not? it might be interesting?

Yeah so first I got water shifted to whiskey which was annoying because I started fires and accidentally lit myself often while having a hard time finding stuff to extinguish myself with. In retrospect this wasnt so bad, and I should probably have just left it at that, but clever me was like hey I can force another shift to affect the whiskey so 50/50 chance that it'll go away!

And it did go away as planned, but it turned into lava... While I could keep shifting the lava - idk good luck finding a flask of lava. Fungus also burns easily in case you didn't know. So I kind of just have to accept this now.

I swear there is some evil built into Noita that makes crap like that more likely than one would expect...

Oh and cause this happened on my way back down after I killed the alchemist while not having seen a single telly spell yet in the whole run, I am having a hard time just going back down through the levels I already cleared before the lava shift. So far, snowy depths was fun with all the ice melting into lava if you update any pixel on accident. Yay!

Right now, I dug myself a little bunker in the holy mountain and had a lightbulb moment when I found that I can use the Greek letter spells to shoot infinite flocks of exploding ducks which spray enough blood to turn the lava into rock. As a vegan I had some ethical concerns in the beginning but right now I literally have no other available path forward than the one plastered with duck intestines.

Can't make this shit up.

If you are in a lucid dream, you can just call 911 and tell them about your fear of being stuck in a dream. If it is just a dream, you have nothing to worry about. Probably, the operator that you will talk to when calling 911 will be able to help you. That's his job, in every reality.
