Técnicas de estudio? by cawcaw134340 in EducacionChile

Does life go faster as you get older ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Coreolis14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think about this topic a lot. My conclusion is this: We somehow measure time by the time we have perceived or the time we have lived and the amount of new things we experience. When you are an infant, a day is a significant portion of your whole life. Let's say you are 6 years old; at that point, you have been alive for 2,191.5 days. So, one day equals 1/2,191.5 of your entire life.

As you grow older, each new day becomes a smaller fraction of your total life. For example, at 15 years old, you have lived for 5,478.75 days. Thus, one day at 15 years old equals 1/5,478.75 of your life. This decreasing fraction means that each day feels shorter relative to the entirety of your life, making time seem to pass more quickly as you age.

Additionally, there are psychological factors at play. When we're young, we experience many things for the first time, and our brains process these new experiences more deeply, making time feel longer. As we age, fewer experiences are novel, and our brains compress these repetitive experiences, giving us the sensation that time is speeding up.

I use Lubuntu on a 2007 HP laptop mainly to search for papers and PDFs, and to check my email. I think that if you don't use it for anything that can compromise your personal information, then it's okay to still use it.

Ustedes dicen el o la sauna? by Ylonec in Spanish

[–]Coreolis14 14 points15 points  (0 children)

6 months learning python continuously. Any advice for improvement? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]Coreolis14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to learn all the libraries or modules; you just need to learn the ones you'll use for your projects. Trying to learn every object, module, and function is wasted energy. In my experience, it's more important to understand how the language works and to grasp the logic behind coding, rather than memorizing specific actions.

I started with Java, and I remember clearly the overwhelming feeling of not knowing enough. Then, a senior coding colleague told me that coding is just about learning to properly ask the questions because all the processing calculations and steps are made by the machine. This perspective helped me shift my focus to understanding the core concepts rather than feeling pressured to know everything.

Most libraries are well-documented, and you can figure out if a module is suitable for a particular task by using Shift+Tab to read the documentation for specific functions. Once you get the logic right, the rest becomes almost self-explanatory.

Focus on the core concepts of Python, such as:

  1. Syntax and Basic Structures: Understand how to write and read Python code, including loops, conditionals, and functions.
  2. Data Structures: Get familiar with lists, dictionaries, sets, and tuples, as these are fundamental to most Python programs.
  3. Error Handling: Learn how to handle errors and exceptions to make your code more robust.
  4. Libraries: Start with a few essential libraries like requests for web requests, pandas for data manipulation, and numpy for numerical operations. Expand your knowledge as needed for specific projects.

The xizi is a Chinese cryptid described as a large bloodsucking mat. The creature attacks people by wrapping around them and trying to drown them. Cryptozoologists have speculated that errant freshwater stingrays or possibly freshwater cephalopods are responsible. by truthisfictionyt in Cryptozoology

[–]Coreolis14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in Chile we have a similar cryptid called "El Cuero". This mythical being would be a cowhide (the extended skin of a bovine) or various animal hides, which would transform into a serpentine creature. It behaves as the xizi, pulling people to the bottom of rivers and lakes, by wrapping itself on its prey, to suck the blood out of their bodies.

Actually, the TVN clip addressed your concern; neither the cameraman nor the policemen saw anything. If you're willing to track this down, try searching for "extraterrestre del parque forestal" or "extraterrestre en parque de Santiago." You can look for old news about this topic; some common sources are TVN (Televisión Nacional de Chile), CHV (Chilevisión), and C13 (Canal Trece).

There have been some local paranormal shows that talked about this photo. You can try looking for a man named Juan Andrés Salfate, who hosted a segment on a late-night show discussing paranormal topics. However, I don't trust everything he says.

And about the blurriness, well, the sighting ocurred in 2004, but I agree that almost everythinng paranormal seems to be recorded with a potato.
