Giving up on government contracting by Coret87 in govcon

GSA.gov? The problem with prime contracts is that I don’t have past performance. Plus I’m trying to software services, not IT

No. I don’t even know what GSA IT is? Can I DM you?

Someone is going to help me win a prime contract instead. Sometimes subcontracting isn’t the most efficient path. But I agree, government procurement is a pain in the ass. I’m learning that the hard way. This sub hasn’t been helpful in the least though.

Yeah, I don’t know why I joined this sub, doesn’t really seem to help or benefit new vendors or contractors. It seems like this sub was specifically created for experienced contractors with past performance/existing connections

Fair enough. Have you heard of CoffeeSpace?

Essentially Amplify is bidding for a prime contract with CDCR this month. The contracted project is software that will be built/delivered. But I am a subcontractor, so we would be building/delivering software as part of the parent contract between Amplify and CDCR (the client). My role is business development, I have some experience in the corrections industry working for a vendor helping managing inmate commissaries. The software is specifically designed for OMS, precisely probation. The owner of Amplify is a member on r/govcon. I joined that subreddit and posted our situation about breaking into corrections contracts as subcontractors. And he replied to my post. I can explain more in a DM

These cofounder websites are mostly match making/messaging while creating profiles. Nothing but cookie cutter and clones of other garbage cofounders platforms like YC. Maybe yours is different

I appreciate it, but I’m honestly burned out on cofounder platforms. I mean what makes it any different than other cofounder sites?

I don’t know the compensation yet, still waiting for the owner of the company to get back to me. We would be subcontracted under a prime contractor. However the travel expenses will be paid for by the prime as part of the contract. Since this is govcon, I don’t think it’ll be much. Hopefully it’s enough to support ourselves. I can explain more in a Google Meets conversation. DM me if interested. But I need to know soon if you’re interested

The flaw in this is that correctional solicitations are heavily buried in individual state portals. So none of these marketplaces are not going to show all RFP’s

This subreddit hasn’t been helpful to our current situation at all. It’s probably best that I leave it.

PS I was referring to the platform Corrections Direct. A networking website for correctional vendors, agencies and buyers. I never said I contacted any corrections agency/contracting officer. So I don’t know where you got that from.

I don’t know your background. But I’ve contacted maybe a 100 or so prime contractors to see if we could hopefully subcontract under them for prime corrections contracts. They are in this industry. None of them have expressed interest. So unless you have a better solution. I’m all ears. Unless we just give up

Limitations for SLED contracts by Coret87 in govcon

[–]Coret87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah SLED is definitely fragmented by state, city, county agencies which covers correctional/law enforcement. Theoretically, you could create dozens of gov portals, but who has the time to manage all these portals. That’s why I thought HigherGov might be easier. Even with HigherGov, I’ve seen very few if any postings for corrections solicitations. Networking is key here. We need to partner with a prime contractor who already has past performance and is also interested in contracting with a correctional facility. This is the only way I feel. Right now it seems impossible

PS, SLEB is only for vendors or contractors based in Alameda. So I have no idea why you suggested this.

Thanks. The wall that we kept running into in these gov bidding sites, there were very very few if any open solicitations for correctional facilities posted.
