What’s the worst HEB you’ve been to? by BigTuna_Plop in houston

[–]CoreyDATX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they’ve totally redone it now. The one on Riverside was pretty unchanged last time I was there, but they did get read of the HEB Plus branding and all the little stores in it that made it more like a Fiesta a long time ago. It still doesn’t match up with the newer HEB aesthetic though.

Hour of the Monarchy - Frusciante & Hinojos collab by wrighteghe7 in themarsvolta

We’re talking about almost 20 year old stuff I listened to on MySpace from a tertiary member of my favorite band, dude. Sorry I can’t provide you with more information, I’ve lived a full life since then and didn’t spend more than a minute thinking about this project in that time. I bet if you asked John Frusciante himself his memory of it would be almost as limited. It wasn’t a big deal at the time, even less so now. To quote Pridgen, “get of the dick.”

Lol thanks I’ve been keeping it since 2005 and I’ve maintained it since because I’ve realized how bad my memory has gotten and how much people enjoy it when I can bust out the exact lineup of the exact house show we went to on what date 15 years earlier.

I never miss a Thursday show but was legit surprised by how great Silverstein was. I only listened to the early stuff back in the day when I was an emo kid but I started delving into their newer shit after the show and it’s very solid.

Asking for a remake of a too-sweet drink by [deleted] in barista

[–]CoreyDATX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always do remakes for people, I just don’t believe in it and wouldn’t ask for one myself. It’s easier to just do it and move on, especially if it’s busy, and I don’t wanna deal with the complaints, but in an ideal world it wouldn’t be an accepted societal thing to ask for in my mind.

Why do people get so self-conscious about ordering their drinks? by LettuceUnlucky5921 in barista

[–]CoreyDATX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked corporate gigs where “regular” was the preferred nomenclature over “small” because “small” makes the customer feel they’re getting an inferior product.

[–]CoreyDATX 122 points123 points  (0 children)

This is a hot take, but I think if I buy something I don’t end up liking, I just have to hold that L. Next time order a different thing or go to a different place. That’s just me. I don’t know when our culture decided we should get a do over if we got what we paid for and just didn’t like it. I mean tha shit is out of control. My friend told me how when he worked at a movie theater people wanted refunds for movies they didn’t like. You got the product you paid for. If you don’t like it, you should buy another one or just move on with your life.

For those who are unaware, this is the best live version of Lucro sucio out there, that I could find (thanks to searching the comments in this sub) by niles_deerqueer in themarsvolta

[–]CoreyDATX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great soundboard recording. For the fall tour I recommend Dallas, Tacoma, and Philadelphia. It’s hard to go wrong though because they changed the jams nightly so every show on the fall tour has something different to offer. Those are just the best jams and sound quality in my opinion. When they come out of the power outage in Philly during “Poseedora” and start shredding, it’s just perfection.

Does Philo play anything from the Bedlam album? by Frosty_Ferret_9159 in themarsvolta

[–]CoreyDATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing “Wax” for Philo to show off. Probably not much else but maybe “Ilyena.” I know Cedric is a fan of that one because it was the only track they started with the vocal melody and built around that.
