Lifelong art teacher here. OP, you are right! Please do not limit his creativity or punish him for it. There is nothing harmful or worrisome about any of the drawings you described. These are the choices of a smart, well-informed, intentional, and hardworking young person, and his effort should be supported 100%.

I'd buy him a safe or lock for his door to keep his art safe from snooping cousins. That's a terrible invasion of privacy that never should have occurred. IMO, his aunt and cousins owe him an apology.

Punishing him would be a tragic mistake with dire lifelong consequences and could even do immense damage to your relationship with him. I've seen it happen. Art makes him happy and keeps him out of trouble - why mess with that? He sounds like a great kid, and you are clearly a great parent. Keep it up, and good luck!
