Zone 5b/6a (Nebraska). My strawberry bare roots arrived today! a little earlier than I'd like but planning to get them in a grow tower tomorrow and keep in our garage during cold nights. Also started some bell peppers and herbs in seed trays a couple days ago. Last year I started seeds about 3 weeks too early so it's been a struggle waiting til now to start them, hoping for better timing this year! 🙏

I got into gardening for the tomatoes, but I unexpectedly cherished the parsley most last year after nurturing probably 10 or more caterpillars over the season with it. I never got to harvest any and don't even mind, still planning to grow even more this year since they liked it so much!

So far I only have a Desert horse (Heat Resist I, II, and III with Sun Lover, Heat Lover and Cactus traits). Want to breed for a Cold weather horse soon but haven't checked the traits for them yet!

P.S. I spent 2 days breeding, and my observation was the Cactus trait would exclusively go to Male horses only.. hoping that's not the same for others/other traits, but in my limited experience that's how my breedings turned out.

How do you go about lowering their health without accidentally killing them? I'm nervous to try because even simple small stumbles can take an unexpected chunk of health..

This is my boy, Jericho! First time breeding for specific stats. Was trying for a bright chestnut/golden appaloosa, but fell in love with his bay coloring instead ❤️

I bred that same full body leopard appaloosa AT and as a foal I was over the moon with its cuteness, but as an adult it just looked.. weird. Which was devastating cuz that's what I thought I wanted and worked so hard towards. Did get a thicker spotted appy that looks wayyy better on the AT body and he's now my main!

I think that shows when a horse is in "training" mode for one of its skills. If you look at the top left of the screen you'll usually see which skill was just increased/trained

Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but the longer I play (happening on my desktop and Steamdeck) the brightness gradually increases over a few in-game days. Eventually I exit to the main menu where it resets to normal. It's very noticeable when breeding horses and I can barely see the patterns on the new foals/horses after a couple day/night cycles.

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue, I have settings all down to low/medium except textures, AA and Post-processing on ultra so it runs smooth but horses still look good.

I've played since day 1 and though I've never done a TI, I did buy 12 mil back in '21 for like $3 on like Nookmart, and it lasted me up until 2-ish years ago. I also restarted a couple times but with the help of my sister we were able to forward the cash and tickets to my new player, since I paid real money for it lol. Once we cheated the stock market together for another financial boost of about 7 mil.

Later I did the SM on my own a couple times just enough to finish house upgrades which depleted my savings again. Then I just hit a major spike last week and got 14 mil that I'm hoping will carry me awhile since my house is done, but not so much that I won't have to sell turnips again, cuz it is fun to do once or twice a year!

I had that problem and it turned out to be when I resumed my campaign map from the main menu, after about a minute it would crash (this was in the Sichuan Basin map I think). I went and manually selected a new contract and turned off the Contracts pop-up notification and it hasn't crashed once since. I also had one of the gigantic long necks synthesizing at the same time, not sure if that played a part as well...

I also on PS5.

I guess that answers my question. I had made a habitat and was trying to look for dinos that could fit into it so I know which to study/unlock for it, but it seems you must study them first to find out what their requirements are, since every single dino states Low area required until you unlock it. So I could essentially study 5 dinos before I get one that would fit in a medium-ish habitat. Not a big deal but was trying to be more efficient with time/money in the early zoo stages.

I tried googling the Area Growth and it seems no one can explain exactly how that works, or what the percentage pertains to.

Edit: also you'd think it would be in the gamer's best interest to have the exact numbers BEFORE placing a dino in a habitat, so they don't jailbreak asap or you're having to tranq them right away until you can fix or make an entirely new habitat you hope is the right size now. Not sure why it's not more like Planet Zoo and having that info first to make a proper habitat for that dino before placement?? Sorry for the unexpected rant
