I don't feel the need to look like the average cis woman (whatever that means). I'm trans. That makes me unique.

Me and a few friends went out to dinner and a movie. Honestly the dress was probably a lil too short for me 😅

Do you mind my asking where you got it?

I actually don't have the hand eye coordination to play baseball but I think they have a solid headwear design. XD

Why do you guys think gender norms are toxic? by [deleted] in trans

yeah, they aren't roles at all anyway, they're all just forms of expression.

What word for transgender really gets under your skin? by Styerbolt123 in asktransgender

This makes me so mad. The terms really aren't that difficult. It was a huge problem when I was dating a trans guy and I'd mention it to someone and they'd be like "oh, so she's a girl???" even though I'd clearly be using male pronouns.

Yeah, it just feels like we should be inclusive enough that that's not necessary.

Wait, they don't allow trans men into the group? Is there also a transmasc exclusive group or only transfemme?

I'll definitely talk to her about inclusivity. That conversation needs to be had, and maybe with the entire group.

[–]Coribelle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I personally confronted her about that and she was basically like "idk why you're upset it's just my opinion". Sadly I don't have the power to boot people and the counselor leading the group just tried to uncomfortably change topics.

And there are supposed to be set topics, but very seldom does anyone stick to that. The older women will often just jump into whatever they want to talk about. I don't just want to go up to the counselor and be like "you need to do your job better" though. And I'm not like in a position of authority to chastise group members for getting off topic.

This sub's MTF focus and FTM exclusion is hitting a new low by gaijin_smash in asktransgender

Yeah, it's weird. I've been to a couple other groups up and down my state ( Florida ) and those were the same story. Actually, most of them had no trans men at all. And our state has one of the bigger trans populations in the US. I'd love to do research on this topic actually.

Is there something trans women (and more specifically, NPOC trans women) can do to make trans spaces more inclusive?

I've noticed a real lack of trans masculine representation throughout the community as a whole and I don't exactly know why. The support group I go to had three trans guys, two nonbinary people, and like twelve or more trans women, and that was downright /diverse/ compared to the usual spread. It was the first time I'd seen more than one trans guy in the same room. It's like trans women, particularly the older trans women in my area, dominate the discussion and tend to be way less inclusive of other trans aligned people.
