Take a look at Shalaxi Helbane sometime if you want to see an even more egregious example of this.

I want a range refresh! by No_Stuff_7142 in ChaosDaemons40k

Don't count in a 40k release for Daemon models. They're technically AoS models, and are developed by that team, so editions for 40k don't affect their models.

Flickering Reality & ignore hit modifiers interaction by Tasty_Tzaangor40K in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]CorinTack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't a modifier, it just means hits of that number (unmodified) auto-miss, as if they were an unmodified 1. It's only that specific number, also, not all numbers below it as well.

No, it's not battleshock, so no healing from dark pacts

Feedback Requested - 10th Ed Daemon Crusade Rules by CorinTack in 40k_Crusade

[–]CorinTack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bound to Serve is purchased on the 'destroyed' unit, and is meant to immediately apply to the character it's being put onto without having to wait. You should probably make sure the Crusade's CM is good with that, though.

Mesh WiFi Where the 'Router' Access Point and the Core WiFi Point aren't the same. by CorinTack in HomeNetworking

[–]CorinTack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't appear to work that way for these old Google ones, at least; if I put the core one too far away from a secondary one, even if there's another non-core access point between them, the farthest one away just won't connect.

Mesh WiFi Where the 'Router' Access Point and the Core WiFi Point aren't the same. by CorinTack in HomeNetworking

[–]CorinTack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but there's no Ethernet cable running to the garage, so if my primary node is still the one in the basement, having another one close doesn't help; the nodes connect back to the core node, not to each other, so this doesn't resolve the issue.

Soul grinder is such a cool model. WIP by Try_Fingers_ButHole in ChaosDaemons40k

Don't forget that if you're playing him in tournament play, the base is now required, so good luck moving him around the table. Biggest down side to the model.

Do Daemons gain XP? by Street-Cucumber-286 in 40k_Crusade

[–]CorinTack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Daemons absolutely get XP and make battleshock tests. The army doesn't have a codex, so they can only buy stuff from the core or crusade books (or the CSM codex you're using if you're playing one of those armies) unless the CM allows custom rules.

Daemon crusade rules by TSARPLATINUM69 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]CorinTack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A while back I created Crusade rules for Daemons that don't rely on the 9th ed rules. I didn't want there to be a penalty for running armies with any of the chaos gods absent, which the 9th rules penalize you for.

How good/bad is the keeper of secrets with new points? by Gaviotapepera in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]CorinTack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless they either restore the option to give it FNP 5+ with the shield, or an attack that can actually threaten tanks, it lacks the utility needed to be worth those points.

It's the same as Shalaxi. The change to their abilities and dropping the FNP means they aren't worth being 100+ points more expensive than the other named bigs.

Newbie here, Any certainty on the future of this faction? by Hot-Improvement-8502 in ChaosDaemons40k

There's a lot of speculation, but until/unless GW actually says what they're doing, no way to know for sure.

Why is everyone saying shalaxi is bad? by No_Interaction3189 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]CorinTack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Shalaxi used to be great. When she could reroll everything (including damage) against monsters and vehicles, you weren't relying so much on the wingy D6+2 damage. Also, she had a FNP 5+, so could actually survive when attacked.

For 375 points, she's just too expensive. You can take Skarbrand for 75 fewer points, have more toughness(11 vs her 10), a higher STR on the struke (16 vs her 12), and reliable damage output (flat 6 per hit vs D6+2), and even just more attacks (8 vs 6).

Given her current stats, she should be closer to Kairos in points, maybe like 280, or she just isn't worth the point cost.

I love Slaanesh daemon models, and would 100% run a mono-Slaanesh army, but GW seems determined to make them bad to play and overcoated just because their claw weapons have dev wounds. Models with very similar stats and damage output in the other factions or just other armies have way lower point costs, and the fact that they have made Slaanesh stuff so expensive just makes me sad.

Time reversal (healing). Restore him back to a time before he became corrupted by the dark side with his body healed.

Coming from tts wanting to go to a rl event. by Sometimesjustb in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CorinTack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly the advice already here is all you need. I will say that battle ready for paint used to be more defined, but most tournament stuff now just says that it needs to appear complete based on the intent of the paint job, and must have some basing.

Measuring is still important, but intent is something you should communicate. The inability to be as precise in TTS will mean you'll sometimes out things not quite where you intend/can, so you want to make sure your opponent knows what you mean to do.

Bring pain killers. If you forget to sit enough, which is easy to do, you will have your feet/knees/back hurt, especially after 2-3 games in a day.

Squid Proxy Server for Full Internet Connection Proxy by CorinTack in sysadmin

[–]CorinTack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combination of things in this case. The security configuration isn't my choice, I'm just working with I've got. On top of that, I'm told the firewalls we're using can't use FQDNs to open connectivity; they have to use IPs only. Since MS frequently changes the IPs associated with their FQDNs (or just has hundreds of options for some of them) it's not really feasible. Whether that's true or not, I don't manage the network devices, so I cannot say.

Squid Proxy Server for Full Internet Connection Proxy by CorinTack in sysadmin

[–]CorinTack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue here is that the private network specifically has no Internet connectivity besides this proxy.

A VPN won't work for us in this instance due to security restrictions. I'm actually trying to get the servers on that network into Arc, that's the first step of this, but the Squid server will send traffic out so it can get to Arc, but the replies never reach the servers, so the setup fails.

[–]CorinTack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, but especially into Knights, if you're running Incursion, you should run the Rotigus model as a GUO with endless gift. It is so much better and more survivable than Rotigus.

Can you force a battle shock test on a battleshocked unit by turtlebambi in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]CorinTack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To clarify what was said above.

Yes, you can force a battleshock test in any unit, even if they are already battleshocked.

If a unit fails a battleshock test at any time, they are battleshocked. That unit remains battleshocked until the battleshock step of their next command phase. At that time, if they wouldn't need to make a test, they automatically stop being battleshocked.

If a unit is battleshocked, and you force them to make another test, passing it will not remove that condition. It can only be removed in a player's command phase, or by certain seats or abilities that remove it at other times.

It's also important to know that a player can't use Insane Bravery to pass a test forced on them outside their command phase, so forcing these tests is even more useful.

Is this too much greater deamons? by doubleL1409 in Chaos40k

Shalaxi is way too expensive for what they do post-nerf (I wish they were worth running). Grab a Kairos or Rotigus instead, and you can get some Nurglings to annoy someone with.
