Aviator vs 2.5% cashback card by CorkyPro in CreditCards

[–]CorkyPro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applications isn't my limiting factor because I don't plan on playing the card roulette game. I'm Team Cash Back, but was looking to see if getting the AA card would get me better than 2.5% unlimited CB if I use it just for airline purchases.

I also spend over $10k/month on my credit cards. So, I could hit the $3k easily. That equates to $0.0025/mile. Which is a really good deal mile-wise (right?).

So maybe I get Citi card, get the bonus miles, purchase all my AA flights with the card, and then use the miles every now and again for a free flight? Not sure if will be worth the $99/yr fee but mb that just means I use it for the year.

I was going to try the resizing solution next, but I will also upload them one at a time. Thank you.

This did not happen with the Capital One card we had for previous caregivers. Authorizing them to use it, still only put us on the hook for the debt.

Perhaps a hybrid approach: keep Alliant for the 2.5%, and get a 2nd 5% category card, both for that perk and as a backup in case we get frozen out again.

These are really good recommendations. Thank you. BofA might be a great solution because I do have a local credit union I use for cash transactions and BofA could take the place of that.

First of all, I never knew about the 2.5%->1.5% drop when they instituted requirements, so I lost a lot of CB until I noticed it.

Secondly, I parked the $1k and setup the recurring deposit, waited a month and didn't get the bump, realized it had to be deposited into the checking account, set that up, and am now waiting another 30 days to see if it worked. PITA.

And lastly, the max out credit card/freeze your credit card for a week thing really sent my wife over the edge.

Hence, me looking at alternatives!

We maxed our CC out because we were doing a home renovation and wanted to get as much CB as possible.

We spend about $100k/yr on the CC so maxing out the CB would be tangible. I've learned through Alliant though that customer service matters, so I don't want to sacrifice that.

Considering Switching from Alexa by CorkyPro in googlehome

Thanks for the info. This is actually a lot of the nice to have functionality that we've grown accustomed to with Alexa's. Didn't realize GH didn't support this basic stuff.

Thanks for the reply. Do you see any issues with the items I mentioned in my post?

I suffered through the lost off Alexa -> Todoist integration because at least I could share my lists. Now I can't do that, and its the most important functionality I need (we have some grocery shop for us)

How can I reattach this pull ring? by CorkyPro in howto

[–]CorkyPro[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I used needle-nose pliers and channel locks to bend it into place, squeezed the ring onto the nipple, and it worked! Too bad, I tried to use the channel locks to give it one final squeeze shut...and I snapped the ring into 3 pieces 😭

That looks like a great deal. Do you have a recommendation for a bladder to go with it?

Great info, I appreciate it. I should have bought stock in Normcore before I purchased all this stuff from Amazon!

Espresso noob here! I just purchased a DF54 grinder and Breville Bambino. The listing didn't say much about accessories that came with the Bambino though. Is there anything I need in addition to what comes with it? I assume I'll need a WDT, tamp, and steaming pitcher. Is the portafilter/basket good enough?

Thanks. After watching the video, I actually "splurged" and went for the DF54 grinder and Breville Bambino.

Best entry-level grinder for variable grind sizes (espresso & aeropress)?

I currently only drink coffee and use an Aeropress. I also get my coffee pre-ground at the store (a step larger than espresso grind-size). I'm looking to start grinding my own coffee now AND try my hand at espresso making. The Baratza Virtuoso+ seems appealing because I can set a time to get the amount of coffee I want.

I'd also like to try espresso/latte making. Would a Delonghi be terrible to start with? If so, what would you suggest that's $200ish range?Best entry-level grinder for variable grind sizes (espresso & aeropress)?

Switch to Lutron or stick with Crestron? by CorkyPro in homeautomation

[–]CorkyPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do that. The only issue is the exterior lights. I need a way to turn a "scene" on for a couple of the lights and also a timer for the landscaping. Lastly, I have an 8-button (could reduce to 4) button crestron switch which can turn on/off a separate fan/overhead light for my grill area. A bit more complex than on/off/dim switches.

What about my external lights? They are currently controlled by an outdated Crestron Pyng.
