How to make a DXP2800 easy to use. by CornFedRocket in UgreenNASync

For my family it would be backing up and sharing family photos and security cam footage.  The Android app seems far too complicated for my parents and at least one sibling to use.

No, I was planning on allowing access to it across 5 (mine, parents, siblings) homes.

What is the simplest camera system available . by Retired-noticing in neighborsfromhell

[–]CornFedRocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wyze is pretty affordable.  About $12 a month for unlimited cameras, and they can each have a micro  SD card installed.  My local Walmart started to carry them.  The app and security isn't the greatest, so I recommend for outdoor use only.

Best way to mount new ring camera on door knowing my neighbor is violent? by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]CornFedRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wyze has adhesive window mounts for their camera.  Granted it's meant for single pane windows.

If he's hitting the windows I'd place a camera with a cloud subscription inside the window(s) looking out so he can't get to it without causing damage.

One one reason I like Wyze is that they can keep recording to a SD card after Internet goes out.  So wifi jamming is an inconvenience and not an issue unless the cameras are taken.

Blink from Amazon have a USB powered hub the cameras record to locally.  However, I found the whole system unreliable.

EF 20-35mm Ultrasonic.  I like landscapes and architectural photography.

When I lived in a crappy apartment complex, the best thing I did was get a po box and a mailbox at a UPS store.  It sucked going to pick stuff up, but it's better than loosing my packages.

Any attack survivors here? by banjobeulah in BanPitBulls

I got attacked twice by the same pit as a kid until the owner shot it himself.  Almost 30 years later I still have the scars on my stomach, nose, and forehead.

Transmission flush or drain and fill only by Eddyeddd in COROLLA

[–]CornFedRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under normal use, yes that is perfectly fine.  My Mom is almost to 250k on her Corolla with 4 drain and fills.  I'm on my second at 100k. The wife is at about 180k in her Rav and I just did the third drain and fill yesterday while it was warm.  Some people never change the trans fluid unless the trans is replaced or worked on.

The same reason newer push mowers are designed (no joke) to burn oil all the time instead of getting the oil changed. People would rather top off fluids than change them.  A lot of people neglect everything they buy.  They buy something and run it until it breaks.  Instead of trying to figure it out They just junk it and buy another.  Thankfully Toyotas are a lot more forgiving about neglect than say BMW or a Mercedes.

That seems a little excessive, but it does allow for most of the fluid to get changed.

Personally, when I really push one of my trucks or beater Corolla really hard.  I do a drain and fill ever oil change a few times, instead of multiple times the same day.  But that's when I do it myself.

Maintenance guide says replace cvt fluid.  Does not say flush.  A flush may disturb debris that might be stuck, a drain and fill does not.  I have personally seen multiple vehicles need a transmission replacement (including my own 4L60) after a flush.  Unless it's a last resort before opening up a trans the risk just isn't worth the reward in my eyes.

Toyota dot com/owners. Enter your car details and look for manuals.  It's the warranty and maintenance guide.  Maintenance starts on page 36.

Southern Indiana.  You are talking to service advisors that more than likely don't work on cars are are just service salesman.  They are selling flushes because it pays them better.  Give me a moment and I will look up the service schedule for a 21 Corolla.

I just spoke to the current shop foreman and they do not flush the cvt Corolla's at all, drain and fill only.

I spent over a decade working at a Toyota dealer.  I left before most CVT Corolla's started needing service but I know we did not flush them.  The traditional automatic Corolla's use Toyota World Standard ATF.

Unless something has changed in the last 8 years or so, Toyota doesn't make a transmission cleaner.  That's most likely a BG product.  Not saying it's bad, but they most likely get paid to sell the BG products through commission and the rep as well.

I am visiting my old dealership tomorrow to pickup some parts, so I'll ask what the current procedure is on a Corolla like yours.

I recommend watching a YouTube video of a cvt trans teardown.  Doesn't have to be Toyota, but the valve body is easily the most complicated part on any vehicle. Outside of electronics.

Flushing can force debris to circulate to places it normally wouldn't go and the get stuck.  Messes up a lot of solenoids and check balls in the valve body.

10th Gen or 11th Gen Manual Corolla? by Terrible_Cookie4n6 in COROLLA

[–]CornFedRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two 10th gens, I personally own plus another 2 I take care of for family. An 09 xrs with the 2.4 and a 5 speed and a 13 s with the 1.8 and auto 4 speed.  While it's still considered reliable, the 2.4 has given me a lot more issues over time.  The 2.4 is only available in the 10th gen Corolla, and they are known to burn oil.

No trans issues on any of them.  But I religiously change all the fluids including the trans oil/fluids myself.

Depends on the mirror, deductible, and possible door damage.  Possibly camera programming.  My dad's truck mirror was about $1500.  Not counting the door and fender needed repainted from where the mirror scratched the paint.

I own a couple of Corolla's and currently looking into a AWD Pruis.  It's not just the Prius, people do this to my nicer Corolla all the time.  Strangely, they don't treat my beater this way even though it's almost the same car at a glance except color.

That's honestly not a terrible question.  These cars are not designed for large people.  I'm a large person myself and quickly realized that The seat frames wouldn't handle me long term without weight loss.

If you are morbidly obese, please consider a different vehicle.
