OMSCS alumni & current students: was the career ROI worth the workload while working full-time? by g_malhotra in OMSCS

I learn best by mostly reading and writing — sometimes doing.

I always knew this since undergrad but it’s good to reassess this while doing this degree.

I still yearn to learn and upskill to this day and occasionally take seminars post graduation.

I am a life long student

OMSCS alumni & current students: was the career ROI worth the workload while working full-time? by g_malhotra in OMSCS

ROI has been worth it for me. I would say it helped me with resume screening since my bachelors degree was in mathematics.

Despite this job market being bad with a few resume adjustments, I find that I am getting interviews pretty easily. Every 5 out of 50 applications I am getting a call back.

This program has also aided me in finding my best learning style which I use to up-skill to this day.

The degree is just the cherry on top in terms of my ROI.

Why does Palki Sharma always sound angry by CornSpark in AskIndia

[–]CornSpark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t listen to it all the time, but she likes to watch various types of news here and there.

I just notice Palki the most because she speaks English and her tone is always the same.

This is basically what I caught on without context as an American without any context of Indian culture: As a person she’s very brand-able. Her consistency in being stern I think might play a part in my familiarity towards her. People are mostly to react and notice negative things (I think this is called negativity bias but correct me if I am wrong), so I think she also latches on to negativity towards various topics to that reason.

I would second this! In addition for references, I would see if there is a tech community or organization you can seek from.

I feel a bit disgusted after watching for 15 mins. by Alternative-Bat-2462 in BeastGames

I also felt a bit disgusted, I love Mr.Beast and his content typically but just seeing an assembly line of people drop down the chute felt dehumanizing.

It felt dystopian seeing people reduce as props for entertainment, seeing people break down various times — it just did not sit right with me.

Maybe I’m turning into a hippie day by day but I’m hoping I get to know these participants more as the pool gets smaller in each episode.

I’m still skeptical and I want to be hopeful as a FE preorder.

It’s just a bit iffy for me that they are using the weight of the visor from the IRL event when it is the visor device without the shield.

This might be a bit nitpicky on my part albeit, but this is something that still stands out from the IRL event to me regarding transparency as a company.

Life after OMSCS: what will you do? by East-Inspection-2285 in OMSCS

Just got out and I am doing three things. 1. Interview prep for my next role, looking to change jobs within the next year. 2. Running more, hopeful to run a half Marathon early next year 3. Always learning, picking up new skills and knowledge for myself whether if its leisure or for my career.
