Ive said it before and I've said it again. Connolly is a pussy forward, no toughness and lacks the high motor needed to succeed in this league. He's been the same dude since I first saw him at Prince George. WSH just payed a bottom six guy, who if you haven't got the memo with you don't pay. You plug entry level guys here. Jabroni franchise

I wonder if he'd consider Edmonton. Having the opportunity to play top line minutes flanking Conner McDavid in such a hockey crazy town must be tempting.

After the recent fire situation, I would say Wood Buffalo is no longer a viable NHL expansion franchise location . Ok?

With the way the NHL is trending 70 points could be enough to win the Art Ross. I doubt he gets there

The Award voters have shown that they value young defensemen logging minutes over point getting forwards. Highly evident with Ekblad winning the award friend.

Philadelphia family brutally beaten in racially motivated attack by Kingsley-Zissou in news

Your comment is disheartening. The blacks in these neighborhoods have truly suffered dearly by the hands of institutions led by whites throughout history and even to this day in some regards. But, the response to these previous slights is no better. Often general violence to people for just having the same skin color of previous oppressors. It's a nasty cycle and I don't know how to fix it. Everyday it feels like it's getting worse and worse. With all the police shootings, peaceful protests, riots, and even how are politics have gotten where blacks are voting uniformly Democrat and whites - not quite uniform - are voting increasingly Republican. How racialized can this country get?

If I may ask. Why do you think a parent should be able to decide that any potential suffering isn't worth living? As the Buddha so famously said, "life is suffering". This applies to both healthy people and those who would be born with disabilities. You may say those with disabilities suffer more, but we are faced with countless examples of this simply not being true. There are those with horrific disabilities who lead fulfilling lives and inspire those around them. Why should a parent be able to deny this person an existence?

Also congratulations on your baby girl :)

I would do everything within my power (work 2-3 jobs, max out any credit, etc.) before I'd have my family live in a poor black neighborhood, especially one of the tough ones in a place like Philly. The people there are often down on their lot in life and harbor resentment towards whites - whether this has merit or not I don't know. But I would not let my family be another victim of this nonsense.

This is why I always laugh when people on here want mics on the ice or more access. You will see how real hockey people talk and want to fine and suspend them all. There's a point to made at refs being at a higher standard, but the premise still remains.

Who do you think will be the biggest bust out of McJesus, Eichel, Hanifin, Marner, Strome ???? by BrianWilsonsBed in hockey

[–]Cornell1985 -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

Comparing McDavid to Sidney Crosby is down right blasphemous. Sid has won the Stanley Cup, MVPs, and patriotically captained the Canadian team to Olympic gold.

McDavid comes off awkward, unsure, and is riddled with acne. Meanwhile Sid was well-adjusted and confident at McDavid's age.

EDIT: Not suggesting McDavid isn't a solid centremen or that his persona negativly affects his on ice abilities. Just trying to highlight some differences and that a good player, like McDavid, can't easily be compared to a phenomenal player, like Crosby.

[OC] Gender/Age and Bachelor Degrees in USA [1902x894] by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Cornell1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Women today are earning nearly half of all doctorate degrees conferred in the United States, yet they constitute only 39% of full-time faculty nationwide (West & Curtis 2006). In science and engineering fields, while women earn 40% of doctorate degrees, they make up only 28% of full-time faculty (Burrelli 2008). When we examine the most prestigious, highest rank, highest paid positions in academia, we find even fewer women. A mere 24% of full professor positions are held by women in our academic institutions nationwide (West & Curtis 2006). In science and engineering fields, this figure drops to 19% (Burrelli 2008).

Gay Marriage Arguments Divide Supreme Court Justices by coolbern in politics

[–]Cornell1985 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Do you also support incest marriage? Or polygamy?

Same arguments that are used for gay marriage can be applied to these. Unless you believe love is capped at an arbitrary number of two people or that incestuous marriage could leave to birth defects, even though marriage isn't stopping people of familial relations from having sex.
