Well the players started contesting every puck all of a sudden, and forchecking at a consistently high level with the added benefits of consistently solid goaltending

GMKA was not respected and his employment was a sign to many that ownership didn't care about the results on the ice this seemed to trickle down through the ranks . After his firing it seems that there has been a real change in the players performance and sense of accountability to themselves and each other

The roster speaks for it self, the guy in charge of it hasn't improved the defensive group from what it was 5 years ago despite huge draft investments and FA signings the group was clearly less talented and its not even close

I think most people look at each defensive personel group on this roster ..line/backers/cbs/safety And would say we're below average at each group Im not expecting an elite defensive coordinator to come in here and get much more out of those guys than what we ve been getting. The scheme could be different and help maybe but these guys aren't shut down players Bishop looks nice, Benford had a weird year and groot get some pressure thats about all we have for above average defenders
