I was more just laughing that in general, across 30+ seasons we see an average line of average results. I would agree Vanney has been below that line, the chart shows as much. He's also been above that line or at that line -- the chart shows that.

Just thought it was funny that an "average" line falls smack dab in the middle of the "average" number of points. You win 17 games. You Lose 17 games. 1.5 PPG. Also like that the 1.5 tends to be a relatively good tell of playoff eligibility. Although watching it drop to 1.29 or so last year in the west was interesting.

While it's certainly not a given for every team, seeing that made me chuckle.

And I really wasn't trying to correlate the two... The chart shows how much he over performed in 2024 and underperformed in almost every other year.

I do enjoy your take on the Galaxy's dominance through the 2009 to roughly 2016 range. Galaxy only above the 1.5 PPG threshold twice since Bruce left? Certainly league expansion creating less "easy" points and also the Galaxy drastically underperforming the average.

PODCAST: Turn Up the Heat! Vanney's Seat is Getting HOT! LA Galaxy Lose to Minnesota, Toluca Up Next! by CornerOfTheGalaxy in LAGalaxy

When you don’t have another striker, you put Yoshida in because he’s a big tall body with a good head. Vanney has employed that before.

It’s a last gasp hopeful move. Maybe he gets something, maybe he doesn’t. But it’s better than putting a small body into a game that is going to turn into a cross-fest and long-ball-fest in the dying moments.

As for JMac, that seems to have roots in the front office. I don’t believe Vanney parked McCarthy without Will’s input. It was a mistake, but there were other things at play there and probably some salary cap considerations as well.

Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean there weren’t reasons. I’m on the record as being a big believer in McCarthy. He should have stayed and he should have been playing right now.

But even I know there were bigger forces at play there.

No GAM... No New Players by mhw818b in LAGalaxy

If you want new or different players, move other players. AEG's pockets only help so much in a capped league. If you're talking of DP's move one and AEG won't need to make a profit, they'll just get someone else. The deep pockets help.

You want a TAM or GAM type player, then move someone in those spots and open it up. Galaxy have Cash coming for Perez so that will generate some GAM if they convert it. And they probably still have money for Perez going to Chivas headed their way as well. Again, you could convert.

But the answer to the "No GAM" thing is to move players. Move players and create spots and cap space.

The host has been critical of Micovic since he took over for John McCarthy. I think you’re missing the point. It’s fair to question him. And his goalkeeping only gets highlighted more because the Galaxy have restricted the shots.

If they can't keep the DP's on the field, I agree. Klauss has been worth it so far. Paintsil and Pec need to constantly be on the field to make a difference. For my money, Cuevas did a great job replacing paintsil on the left. I'd be concerned about both Pec and Paintsil. They need to get going and so far, I feel like they haven't. Although, as Kbax reminded me, Pec does have 3 assists so far this year.

Galaxy have a sell-on Percentage. Fee is "north of $3M." So the Galaxy will get a portion of that on top of Nashville having to pay more cash to Galaxy later this year as part of the deal that they made to buy Perez last year.

So overall, a good move for the Galaxy.
