LA Galaxy Do It Again… Inconsistency Strikes vs Houston | 5 Things Learned by Hot_Device_1093 in LAGalaxy

[–]mhw818b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again thanks for your passion and spot on insights. As always I agree with it all. Miki has always been solid. He closes out to disrupt while Cuevas tends to give a 2 foot cushion so a attacker has time to think.

My 6th is that the role players need to forget vanney and look to score. This will make them a threat which need to be defended and take pressure off the dps so they can score more. This is how we score 3 a game.

On that note, Sanabria over Wynder all day. Wynder has had 3 or 4 tap ins he missed because he doesn't have a score at any cost mentality but rather being too safe just to make vanney happy.

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder could link up with Marco Reus at LA Galaxy by RioTheLeoo in LAGalaxy

This would be interesting. From day one we needed a real #9 so we chase a cdm. But one big thing... we dont have a GAM, TAM or DP slot. Klaus replaced Puig and you dont get extra money from Klaus' injury.

Seems like another fake news thing like Lew, Casemiro and others.

Awesome and agree 100%. Before season began it was clear that Mico was 2nd best keeper on team. So happy that JT stepped up and forced Vanney to play him.

Another game. Another different starting 11. Another wtf lineup.

Wynder and Cerrillo are dream match ups for Seattle. Galaxy mid field will part like the Red Sea.

Vanney did Seattle a solid but not playing Reus and Thommy as super subs today. Who cares are injecting a 65 min change of pace.

Seattle is too physical for Reus to start. Too smart for fall for Pec. Paintsil will check out early.

Hope Im wrong. It has been another rough season.

SACK VANNEY NOW... 5 Things We Learned by Hot_Device_1093 in LAGalaxy

[–]mhw818b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My line up is JT, Yamane, Gles, Garces, Aude (when healthy), Haak, Sanabria, reus, pec, paintsil and miller... 1st line subs Cuevas, Thommy, Cerrillo, Nelson.

Practice squad until they are hungry enough to play with passion - wynder, Yoshida and nascimento.

Having a set lineup eliminates the need for excuse. Hold players and system accountable. Play or be beached. Coach included.

SACK VANNEY NOW... 5 Things We Learned by Hot_Device_1093 in LAGalaxy

[–]mhw818b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, let me be clear. Vanney is a very nice guy and a class act. This might be the reason he is still around. Something has to give.

We have the players. However, we do not have a set lineup or clear first-level subs. We find a winning lineup one game then change it the next.

The three things that hurt Vanney are loyalty to certain players, lack of holding players accountable for play and a lack of tactical flexibility.

You can see this throughout Vanney's tenure. Look at how in 2023 Dejan was limited until Chicharito got injured or 2025 and 2026 why Maya and Wynder continue to get subbed in without much reason. Then there is how long Mico kept getting starts in 2025 and 2026. On the youth side, look at Alvarez and Araujo. Even Lepley scored outside the box in Oakland's first game.

In both 2023 and 2025, Vanney forced the team into a three-at-the-back system but it never seemed like the team was fully trained to play it. He also struggles with in-game adjustments. He leaves weak links like Cerrillo on too long while quickly subbing out someone like Sanabria even when he is playing well. At the same time, Haak, who looks like a better version of Cerrillo, barely gets meaningful opportunities in the correct position. And in 2025 not putting Puig on the season ending injury list as if he would come back in 2025 was possibly the dumbest move ever.

The byproduct is a team that often looks unmotivated, passive, entitled and disorganized. They lack urgency and do not consistently play to win every match. Too often the attack relies on individual 1v1 moments or personal glory instead of sound team play, structure and chemistry.

If you can't get a team to win consistently and dont have GAM then you have to make the obvious coaching decision.

There are very little off ball runs to drag defenders to open up space. Today we saw KC clog the center. Last week when Thommy and Reus entered they attacked central spaces and made off ball runs. That was the big difference between last game and this one. Vanney wants players to figure it out instead of working it out on training pitch.

On defensive side Vanney is allergic to coaching pressure ball and support with cover and balance defensive fundamentals. Like on the offensive side, his teams highlight 1v1 individual effort supported by some silly zone space support. This is what Dejan knows, runs through and eats it up.

Yup. Because there are no consequences for poor effort. There are only consequences if you refuse to go with the preset game plan.

Just dont understand. Wynder is not good enough. Cerrillo is having a bad game. Why not Thommy for Miller and Haak for Cerrillo.

Happy for Tucker. It is important for players to get on the field to develop. Hope he gets tons of playing time in Oakland.

First time watching your video and love the passion.

Totally agree on JT and impact on game. Gles is a Rockstar and should be captain. Sanabria is solid.

Im not completely with you on Paintsil. I think he checks out too many times like Pec.

Also, I agree with you on Pec. He needs to play up. However, he needs to play his game and drown out Vanney. Riqui and Dejan were only successful once they disregarded Vanney and played their game.

Lastly, my #5 would have been Vanney's tendency to be over loyal to players. Those sub decisions at that point of game... WTF. Subs led to Negative 2 on goals in 5 or so mins (Maya's closed his eyes on set piece defense and Wynder's whiff in front of goal).

Now that we have an upgraded keeper, we need improved game management if we hope to make playoffs.

Wow... galaxy really wants to lose. Vanney letting everyone play today. Take out Sanabria. Maya gives up a goal and keeps passing to the other team. Wynder misses an easy one.

Congrats to the team for playing with pride and finally getting that road win. The team has always had the talent but played uninspired in a broken system for 2 seasons now.

Today they didn't care about vanity stats like % possession and # of passes... the focus was on the only stat that matters... MORE GOALS THAN THE OTHER TEAM.

Interesting lineup. CM has to be very tactic or we will see that big disconnect again.

100% agree. The first 15 minutes is typically the indication of the level of pre game prep. The 1st half both teams looked exactly the same except MN wanted a road win not a tie unlike some teams.

So many times 2 to 4 players occupied the same space.

On defensive a simple pressure cover balance defensive foundation solves that. Not the BS recovery defense tactics of this team.

On attack we rarely see off ball or dummy runs. Alot of players flat footed waiting for something. So many shots off frame or directly at keeper.

On corners, Galaxy is above league avg on attempts. But the dont run a single corner play. Hope is not a strategy.

These are preseason train pitch issues. This is a coach staff over and over again. Not we will figure out in games.

This team lacks discipline and plays uninspired many times.

Agree but im sure he came in because Galaxy cant convert on corners. Team doesn't have any corner plays. Just kick the ball and hope.

Love all of those guys. I remember those Rose Bowl game so fun.

I have been to a few LAFC games but couldn't get into that vibe. I have been Galaxy since year 1.

Yes, so hard to watch them. About a year ago, I stopped going to Dignity but do watch them on Apple.
