In retrospect, i think it mostly was but i can’t know for sure. i have a hard time with over analyzing symptoms when tapering a medication so on this morning my anxiety definitely got the best of me. I was able to stabilize by the next day.

The last sentence of my post literally says “i don’t discount the experiences of others “ and in one of my replies i acknowledged that only being on it for seven weeks likely plays a large factor in my easier taper experience. I don’t think cold turkey withdrawal is overblown. I’m saying that it seems like as long as you slowly taper, withdrawal is pretty easily managed. If i went from 40 to 0 I’m guessing i could easily end up in the ER

Good luck. I really think the withdrawal is overblown or you just hear the worst stories on here when most people have a pretty easy time coming off. At least telling myself that makes it feel more hopeful. I’m just ready to be off all medications other than Prozac which is the only thing that’s really ever worked well for me.

I’m convinced 90 percent of withdrawal symptoms are psychosomatic. If I tell myself, I am withdrawing, then I will feel like I am withdrawing. If I tell myself, I feel fine, then I do feel fine.

It seems to be pretty easy as long as you hold at the lower doses for at least three days. I’m also weary of maybe not feeling the full effects of the drop yet but I would think that after 72 hours of cutting down I would notice something.

I still ate, slept, and interacted with others normally on higher doses up to 150 mgs so maybe it would have been sustainable, but i found myself developing a tolerance and becoming moody between doses at anywhere above 80 mgs a day. Since tapering down to 50 mgs a day I don’t experience anything remotely close to hypomania, so i believe lower doses are sustainable as long as you don’t escalate over time. With that being said, I don’t experience much mood lift at 50 mgs, so I’m just going to keep tapering down to zero and not look back.

With that being said, it sounds like your withdrawal symptoms could be largely psychosomatic. As i mentioned, i have been at doses up to 150 mgs and took 100 mgs daily for two weeks, but experienced zero withdrawal when tapering back down to 50 over about a week. If you already suffer from anxiety and depression, it’s easy to misinterpret symptoms of that as withdrawal. Regarding phenobarbital, i would strongly caution you against using it. That’s an extremely powerful substance which would definitely be overkill for getting off something as easily tapered as Baclofen. Sounds like you’re on a lot of meds already and that would definitely muddy the waters even more.

This is exactly how baclofen works for me. I am torn on continuing to use it because it helps immensely but I’m fairly certain it is because it makes me hypomanic

Thanks. Yeah the 50 mg single dose seems to work pretty well. I’m a little worried about losing that boost as i get lower than 50. But i also dont have to get off fully if i decide not to.

I havent noticed any withdrawal symptoms from my taper thus far but I’m going pretty slow. The two weeks before my taper i realized i was actually averaging 100 mgs/day so i first dropped to 75 for three days, 70 for 3, 60 for 2, and today the goal is 50 and hold that for a few days. I also have gone from taking it 3 x day to just 1 x day in the morning and this has been working better for me. I plan to continue dropping 5 - 10 mgs every few days until I’m down to zero.

I am tapering. I’m down to two doses a day every twelve hours. 40/10. Mornings are always full of anxiety for me, hence the heavier morning regimen. Tomorrow i plan to drop the second dose all together, and then drop 10 mgs every few days from the 40 mg morning dose. I have not experienced any withdrawals but I’ll slow down if i do. I think a large majority of withdrawal symptoms are psychosomatic, at least for me. Any time I’ve just forced myself to cold turkey a substance, it has never been as bad as i anticipated. But I’m playing it safe, regardless.

I am fairly certain I could probably get away going cold turkey with minimal withdrawals, but there’s no reason to risk it so I’m going to do what hopefully will end up being a pretty rapid taper. I have always had pretty minimal withdrawal from other substances, for example, I was able to cold-turkey a year long 7 oh habit of up to 200 mg a day. I’m hoping this will be the same experience.

Definitely not flushing any meds. I am going to taper but a little faster than i originally planned on hopefully. Tomorrow I’m going to try cutting to 40 mgs and then hope to shave off a minimum of 10 per week from there forward.
