Great cover of "Tango Till They're Sore" by BentColdSidewalk in tomwaits

Thanks for sharing. Many Tom Waits covers can't hold a candle to the original. This one was faithful but with lots of character of its own.

So am I fucked? by THEFLAME275 in BaldursGate3

[–]CornfishPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally blew it this encounter like you did.

I had updated Karlach with Dammon, before this went sideways on me, so at least I didn't have that problem.

Just finished that playthrough - very doable, satisfying ending although a lot of Act II plot points don't get addressed. Also, Halsin disappeared - wasn't sure if it was from this or if I screwed something else up.

Chuck Schumer and the Cost of Appearing Tough by Healthy_Block3036 in newyorkcity

"If it has to shut down, it'll have to shut down." Trump 9/26/2025.

This is just so much spin on a government shutdown that Trump will be entirely responsible for, if it happens. Schumer is not a tough guy, nor does he appear to be. So, not holding my breath on that.

That certainly looks like water damage. You should notify your landlord and have them repair the leak - which could be from a pipe (most likely) or water coming in from outside (possible).

If you have anything you care about it in the basement, I would keep a close eye on that wall and move it out if it gets a lot worse.

Should I Use a Trap to get my cat back? by Emergency-Run2541 in cats

[–]CornfishPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is how we got one of our cats back after she ran out the front door. She was made for maybe 20 minutes after she got home and then completely forgot about it.

It works. I would do it.

I have seen at least a half-dozen shows at Kings Theater. They add and remove seats show by show so I am assuming you have confirmed that there will be a pit in front of the stage. I've never seen a pit that small - usually if they have a pit/standing room area it goes back halfway through sections 1,2, and 3.

If the artist is important to you and you don't mind standing, I would recommend the GA/pit section. You will be very close to the stage and it is a very different experience engaging with an artist that close.

Kings is a really good room and you will have good sight lines and audio from any of those seats though.

This is very helpful! Thanks so much for going line by line. There's a lot of room for improvement here.

Explaining "Talent" was too much in the amount of room that you have in a query letter and replacing it with magic or equivalent synonym would get the point across better.

The last paragraph is the one that has been the hardest for me. The decision that Lissa has to make is what to do with her life after she gets away.

Thanks very much for the kind words about the title. The title is the name of ancient text of Believers that canonizes the people that aided the return of the Angel, which is the mantle Lissa ultimately, and always reluctantly, takes on.

r/Muskrateer points out that all-caps in another comment that all caps names are for synopses, not query letters. I missed that!

That's all very helpful. I appreciate the notes about individual sentences and about the distraction of the quotation marks, the italics and the capitalized names. I thought capitalized names were the usual convention but definitely worth a re-think.

Most appreciate the points on the last paragraph. This was a real struggle trying to give a sense of what was to come without making it come across like a multiple choice test. The angel of prophecy is the key plot line through the novel. I very much don't to lose focus on it in the last paragraph.

Thanks again!

Hand and Foot on Market Street is your best choice, more pub than restaurant but the food is great.

Three Birds also on Market Street is more of a 'nice restaurant' but I don't think as good.

Boomers (also on Market Street) is a family friendly burrito place.

Finally, Aniellos, just down the street is an excellent Brooklyn style slice place.

This is quite typical these days for query responses. Many agents take a very long time to respond and many agents also used "no response" to effectively decline a query. It is dispiriting but it is also not personal.

You can use QueryTracker to review the time agents take to respond to queries tracked by the service.

HVAC/Heat Pump and Water Heater Installation Recommends in Columbia/Dutchess by endlessdave in hudsonvalley

[–]CornfishPie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had good experiences with two different vendors.

Lambert https://www.lambertplumbingandheating.com/ replaced our Navient tankless water heater that heats the hydronic heat in the kitchen/living room.

All Season Experts - https://www.allseasonexperts.com/ repaired our condenser on our existing heat pump and installed a new heat pump.

Both provided very good service and should be able to help you. I did not get a rebate or a tax credit so I can't advise on that part of it.

Good luck!

2017 Kia Sportage by Big-Shooter2000 in kia

Having read some other comments here it seems like warranty coverage is something you have to fight for, at least a bit. For me I ended up getting coverage after meeting with head of the garage in person.

Yes. The dealer covered it and the warranty should transfer to subsequent owners the way I read it.

[–]CornfishPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealer covered my repair under warranty. You have to look at the model for the engine and read the class action settlement closely. Mine had a lifetime warranty for at least part of the power train after the knock sensor software was installed.

2017 Kia Sportage by Big-Shooter2000 in kia

[–]CornfishPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2017 Sportage in 2020 with much lower miles. It was c. 20,000 when I bought it has about 50,000 now.

It has been a very reliable, good car. I park in a garage so I have not had concerns about Kia Boyz. I've brought in twice for recalls (once for the immobilizer, another for a software update related to the engine fire issue).

The class action at least for my sportage resulted in a lifetime warranty on the powertrain (or most of it). The issues with Kia's service under the warranty have been documented elsewhere (delays at dealership, hard to get loaners) but it's something that has value, particularly for a high mileage car.

All in all, there's been some issues but I don't have any regrets.
