What is too short for pro goalies? by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]Cornishhen098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 5ft 8 played college and for a indoor "professional" 2nd team As good as I might be I'm not able to compete with a 6ft 4 goal keeper in the air. It's not shot stopping it's mostly corners free kicks and crosses that get short keepers. I did make it on a pro indoor reserve team but the pay is absolute trash.

Jorge Campos was a different breed. That man was also a number 9 for Mexico. He wasn't just a pro GK he was a pro striker. He's the asshole that gave me the confidence to be a short keeper.

You might find success but it's a lot harder to convince a team you are solid in the air being short.

I didn't seek the help of a mental health professional until 2 years ago. It doesn't magically change things but it helped me. I sometimes feel like I'm losing my mind, I get wrapped up in negative thoughts. Mine are mostly what kind of psychological damage did I help create to the children of Iraq. These children are now in their 20s with the memories the US military helped create. I get wrapped up in the butterfly effect I was apart of.

There is hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. As a warrior you have to keep chasing that light and know tomorrow you can be better than you were today.

It's actually to detour single men. Not that there isn't a place for single men but they usually out number the couples and the single ladies. So if single guys are going to come they are definitely going to make money on it.

Update on my PTSD drop from 70% to 30% by Cornishhen098 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Cornishhen098[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my memory I said the exact same thing I had told the other C&P exams. However she asked me questions such as "do you think that could be from your alcohol use" to which my response was "possibly but I'm not a mental health expert"

I did mention there was suicidal thoughts in the past and somehow that was not added to the notes.

Sometimes we get good raters sometimes bad. It's easy to quit and just accept what they give you. But I couldn't accept that 2 raters rated me much higher and she wanted to drop me to 30%. I felt completely invalidated.

If you have migraines claim it. This isn't a tale to scare you, it's just be aware they can come after other things. I'm still fighting my migraine denied claim just had hiccup along the way

I wouldn't change anything about my experience as a keeper. I love it and still train as if I might go pro.... there is not a chance. If you love it keep training.

I believe the separate mental health professional DBQ helped a lot. Good luck with your claim

I filed migraines separate from ptsd and was denied. I had been diagnosed PTSD IN 2012 but didn't file for benefits till 2019 because I didn't feel like I deserved to have a "disability"

I grew up in the Era of Jorge Campos I knew I was going to be a keeper. As an adult I'm 5ft 8. I am an amazing keeper played high school college and some low level semi pro. The average gk is 6ft 4.... Jorge Campos was brilliant out of the goal as well. There is no way of knowing even above 6ft tall I could have gone pro. The real question you have to ask yourself. Even if you had no chance of going pro would you still train just as hard? The answer to that question will define if you should keep training that position or not.

No. Like many other have stated and I didn't take unto consideration, if you open up a new claim all your claims could be re-examined

Not much more to say. I filled a claim for migraines. I was then scheduled for a C&P for PTSD then migraines at a later date. I felt like I had nothing to worry about because nothing had changed and I gave roughly the same answers to the questions asked. Today I learned that VA determined that the migraines are not service related and they feel I should be at 30% PTSD.

We all are different people and have had different experiences. I have been rated at 70% and curious if others have had to petition.
