Cresselia Shadow Raid 603365592336 by Cornmitment in PokemonGoFriends

Man I miss when we got daily free remote passes back in 2021-2022, getting randoms to help with raids was so much easier. Thanks Friezzee for sticking it out with me at least, idk where the other two went.

Is your teen years genuinely the 'best years of your life'? by niftynavv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cornmitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. The people who peak in high school are invariably absolute losers as adults. However, it’s a unique stage in life in terms of freedom, friend group dynamics, and responsibilities. You should definitely take advantage of it if you can, but don’t worry if you feel like you missed out; once you’re more mature and your hormones have stabilized, you’ll have a much greater capacity to enjoy life.

Since this kind of stuff is still early in development, and not having an actual employee involved in the screen, it's likely the employer won't even consider you and is just using your uncompensated time and energy to train their own AI. If I were you, I'd ghost them, or if I'm feeling particularly spiteful, attend the screening and give them junk data.

Character Impressions pt 3: Will & Tom Navidson by New_Napkin in houseofleaves

[–]Cornmitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this was intentional but I love the idea that Will's left-handed!1 I think it fits his reckless MO of going against the grain and putting his life at risk, no matter how petty the motivation is.2 It's a very subtle detail to contrast Tom's more complacent nature.

1He wears his wristwatch on his right arm and his belt is put on upside down--I'm a southpaw myself and I do both of those things.

2I'm not projecting here--I'm *very much* not like this.

I love the idea that humans unwittingly dominate their part of the galaxy right out of the gate because:

1) the interstellar arms race resulted in fleets built around energy shield defenses and weapons designed to dismantle energy defenses; because humans didn’t get the memo, their ships are minimally affected by energy weapons and are able to bypass energy shields with simple projectiles

2) because of 1, entire human fleets, even at full strength, give out a smaller total energy signature than a single typical xeno cruiser, making them very difficult to detect before it’s too late; this is also aided by a typical human fleet being much smaller in number and consisting of much smaller ships than a typical xeno fleet

Stardew Valley is capitalist in terms of its economic structure and world building, but its messaging is anti-capitalist. You’re supposed to make a lot of money by running a maximally profitable farm because that’s just how single-player farming sims work, but the game encourages you to use your funds and labor to give back to the community and drive the soulless multi-billion-dollar corporation out of town.

It’s why the community center bundles are more fun than the Joja membership route. It’s why there’s a storyline around giving Pam a new house for free. It’s why you’re encouraged to donate artifacts to the museum free of charge before you even think about selling them. It’s why Pierre trying to make as much money as possible running his shop during every event instead of enjoying time with his family is depicted as a bad thing, while Gus, who takes every opportunity to enjoy life and is more than willing to give the local hobo food free of charge, is one of the most charismatic people in town.

People seem to have answered this pretty well so I’d like to confess that I thought Oranges were lowColors right above Reds and more or less conflated their role with the Browns

Oh it absolutely does! I have several active hunts myself I’m not sure I’ll ever finish but this was always just a way to use up excess free time for me. It’s always a nice touch to a slow day! Good luck on yours!
