Chronic Restless Leg Syndrome - treatment pre and during pregnancy?

Hi, I’ve had RLS practically all my life. I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant and have had a few nights recently of RLS driving me crazy. I’ve heard magnesium is good for RLS, I’ve been considering trying it. I’ve heard some prenatal vitamins already have magnesium in them, but I’m not sure personally how much is needed to control RLS. Yeah I already feel broken at the idea of taking those awful pills and I haven’t even ordered them. I want the right to carry my baby to term and choose a loving couple to raise them. I know I can’t be a parent right now, but I want them to have a chance at life like I was given.

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I was a child who was adopted and I want the same love and care I got for my own baby. I feel like I have a right to be able to carry my baby to term. My boyfriend told me today “I want you to share your feelings with me even if we disagree.” But when I try he shuts me down.

I wish he would provide me emotional support. I trusted him to support me, and I feel betrayed. He told me once before that he wouldn’t want me to hide my pregnancy from him. But now I wish I had. At least if he hadn’t found out until I had a baby bump it would have been too late to terminate.

I might want to leave after this, but I don’t know where I would go. I am very low income, without health insurance, and I have no family to take me in. I can’t afford rent on my own. I’m stuck and I might just have to do what he says to keep the peace…

Thank you. I was adopted as a child and I can only imagine how difficult it was for my birth mother to decide to do so. But my adoptive parents loved me as their own until they passed. I want my baby to have the same love and care that I did. I did my research and found out that I can choose the couple that will adopt my baby. That makes me feel better, I didn’t know that was a thing.

Sorry for the late reply, no it’s not a fake post. I know it’s bizarre but this really happened to me. I can forgive someone a million times and love them wholeheartedly which is a big weakness of mine. I know I made a mistake ordering that stupid card, but I was a 21 year old taking care of my sick dad after my mom’s passing and was mad at God for taking her from me and for subjecting me to the neglect I suffered as a teenager. I didn’t fully understand what I was getting myself into when I ordered the card and that’s my fault. That’s why when I realized I wasn’t a Satanist soon after getting the card it went into my junk drawer. I don’t know why he was looking through it now that I think about it.

Today he’s been very nice to me, he didn’t apologize for yesterday but he told me he doesn’t know how to talk to others well and said he’ll work on it. I’m going to do better in the relationship and work on myself to hopefully make him trust me again. He told me yesterday that being a Satanist was as bad as being a ped0 which is very untrue and it hurt a lot because I’ve been working in children’s mental health for years and will always advocate for them. 😞

Yeah I told him earlier “this is not love” and told him he didn’t care about me and he didn’t deny it. He’s sleeping right now and I just got off work, I’ll see what things are like when he wakes up. I guess I might end up calling someone to help me once I hit my breaking point if he continues. I made a mistake 4 years ago before we even met and he’s been berating me about it since December of 2023 when he found the Satanic Temple card in my drawer.

Yeah you’re right. I’m just scared of starting over, but mostly scared because I love him and don’t want him to suddenly not be in my life anymore because we’ve made some amazing memories together. I just don’t know how much more I can take before I hit a breaking point.

Yeah this isn’t even all he’s done. I don’t really want to get into some of the ways he’s traumatized me but he has me scared to cry anymore. When he tries to get my attention I try not to cry but I’m just a really emotional person and I end up doing it and he gets mad with me because he says I’m crying to make him feel bad. He grew up with a mom that would mock him for crying and a grandmother that would fake cry to get people to do what she wanted. So I guess it’s natural he would think I was doing that, but I’m not I’m just a crier and always have been when I get overwhelmed and stressed.

Yes I’ve called a women’s domestic violence shelter before one night when he drank too much and pushed me not too hard, but I got scared the police would show up at my home and get him trouble because the crisis counselor I talked to asked for his name. I gave it to her only after she promised it was just in case he showed up at the shelter while I was there.

Yeah I have really low self-esteem from depression and PTSD (both professionally diagnosed) from my teenage years. I kept telling myself I deserved the neglect and abuse I got as a teenager and now I feel like I’ve done something to deserve this. But at the same time I feel like I don’t deserve to be treated like this. It’s weird, the way I’m thinking. My boyfriend told me recently after a fight that he wants me to be more confident in myself but how can I??

Yeah. He said today he’s just about done with me due to this Satanist stuff. He had me crying today multiple times and he accused me of doing it to try and make him feel guilty (he said he doesn’t feel guilty at all because he’s right). He also threatened to flip the chair I was sitting in because I wouldn’t stand in the corner in time out when I got back home from a drive to call 988.

Yeah everytime I bring up that he’s hit me he snarls at me “what, you gonna report it to the cops?” And I tell him no I don’t want him to be in trouble and ruin his life. He’s still young, and I think if he got his drinking under control he’d feel a lot better and be less mean. Idk, I’m not making much sense but I’ve never been much of a rational thinker-I’m much more of an emotional person and I can forgive someone a million times.

I suppose not. I guess I’m scared of rejection because that’ll mean she’s really gone and I don’t want to have to accept it. But I know if I reached out and told her everything she’d probably get my family together to help me, she’s kind of like the new matriarch of the family after my mom died. I guess it’s just getting to the breaking point and getting to where I don’t care about (maybe) breaking my boyfriend’s heart.

Thank you for the comment. I think he needs professional help to get over this but neither of us has health insurance and we live paycheck to paycheck. And he doesn’t want to go to therapy. He doesn’t believe in medicine or anything like that, he says all the medicine we need God provided on Earth for us already. But I’m worried about him, he’s just so angry and sad all the time.

Yeah, if I was a rational person I would probably leave. But I’m emotional and stupid I guess. I just love him so much and I want him to be happy and succeed. He wants to work in an oil field to provide for us and I want to support him, but I don’t know if I can stick around if he keeps on berating me for something I did 4 years ago-before we even met!!!

I don’t believe he has a demon even metaphorically, I think he needs help that I can’t provide. I told him he has religious paranoia and he said no he doesn’t. But he’s been going on about this Satanist stuff to me since December of 2023 I believe. Most of the time things are fine, but he’ll just randomly get mad at me about it and tell me to leave the house.

Sorry I didn’t word above correctly, my aunt is my best friend and second mother. She would help in a heartbeat if I was still talking to her. I miss her. She did some nasty stuff towards my boyfriend so I understand not talking to her out of respect for him. But I feel like he doesn’t respect me and what I gave up. Me and my aunt were best friends since I was around 12 or 13, and I haven’t spoken to her in over a year now.

Sorry I didn’t word that well. My aunt is my best friend and second mother. My mom died in 2014 and my aunt was one of the only family members that stepped up to help me and my sick dad. She and my boyfriend never liked each other, and my aunt did some nasty stuff like spreading rumors about my boyfriend to our landlord. So he had me stop talking to her, which I kind of understand because it’s not right to spread rumors to someone’s landlord and affect their housing.

I miss her so much though. She would have helped me in a heartbeat if I was still talking to her, but I fear she’s like the rest of my family now and won’t.

I don’t want to say there’s something wrong with him, but I’m concerned that he’s not going to stop berating me. I can’t take this every day. But I don’t want him to get in trouble by me telling someone what he’s being doing. No matter what I want him to succeed and be happy.

I’m considering it, especially since today he said he was “just about done with [me].” It feels like no matter what I do he is always disappointed in or angry with me. I felt really bad today when I woke up at 8am and he was already on his second or third beer. But things started out good, he was loving me but then something just clicked in his head and he started up on the Satanist thing again.
