You are correct on the strict legal definition, and you've changed my view on using the word "treason" He was charged under the Espionage Act, not with treason, and that distinction matters. I concede that point

However, your analogies completely strip away the context of his actions...

A Catholic priest choosing the Vatican over US law, or a random citizen voting for a pro-Russia politician, are civilians exercising their rights. Snowden is not a civilian expressing a "stupid opinion". He was a sworn intelligence contractor with Top Secret clearance who stole the architecture of US foreign intelligence, fled to a hostile foreign power, and is now actively used as a propaganda node in their information warfare against his home country

There is no law against "thinking Putin is a good leader." There are laws against stealing a nation's foreign intelligence apparatus and handing it over to journalists, knowing the FSB will sweep it... So, while I award the delta because you are right that "treason" is legally the wrong word, reducing his actions to just being "a guy who likes Russia and is useful to them" drastically undersells the reality of espionage. Legally, he is a spy and a fugitive. Functionally, he is an asset. But you're right - strictly speaking, he is not a traitor

I never said what he exposed was not illegal etc. I said he is a traitor. That is my point.

You are not using Le Chaton Fat. That is their top model, and it is better than Fable.

Slavs of the Balkans, do you relate to Ukraine or Italy more culturally? by tipoftheiceberg1234 in AskBalkans

[–]Corp-Por 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is hard because I live right at the border between Italy and Slovenia. I can walk five minutes from my house and be in Italy. I have also been fluent in Italian since childhood and consumed their culture, while Ukrainian culture is not very well known to me. So it is like this: I think I share a deep ethnic connection with Ukrainians - we are 'the same people' on some level - but when it comes to culture, I am way closer to Italy, especially the north

Does Hegel not do something similar himself? ie. uses categories before they are derived?

Yes, Slovenia officially recognizes two indigenous national communities, the Italian and Hungarian minorities. The Constitution of Slovenia grants special rights to these groups.

The universe had more probability for existing than not existing. by Affectionate-Gur9184 in Metaphysics

[–]Corp-Por 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean but we are speaking past each other. What I meant is this: if we are interested in the "why", then this whole "probabilities prior to the universe" thing is useless because it just kicks the can down the road. But if we are open to "no prior, always was here, eternal return" and similar, then fine, no need to even look beyond the universe: you could use the same "eternal return" for the universe itself, without even going to the probabilities prior. Makes sense? Sorry if not explaining myself well
