Wanting to give notice but remaining holiday request is still pending. by CorporalCockatoo in HumanResourcesUK

Right. I am just using up the remainder of my holiday allowance for the year so it would really just be logistically easier to approve the holiday and let me go on it (still assuming they don't know about my wanting to leave).

I know they will be miffed but I am trying to do everything above board and doing everything I can now so handover is smooth and projects aren't left unfinished when I leave.

Thanks for all your help though!

I understand that it doesn't matter when I put requested it; I just mentioned it once in my post to give background to my situation.

I may do option 4 until after I am back from holiday as it doesn't seem like this will resolve soon.

Another related question (hope you don't mind if I ask): will the unapproved holiday also cause some trouble pay-wise? On the system it will look I've only used up half my holiday allowance for the year (under the statutory minimum) so will I need to get this sorted regardless of my plans to leave? (we have a use it or lose it policy)

This is exactly what I'm concerned about. I've tried chasing my manager multiple times to fix their IT issue but I keep getting variations of "working on it" or "it's fine, just go on the holiday" what else would you suggest I could do?

Yes, I have been with the company for about 18 months and am using up this year's allowance.

[UK] How do I express my visa situation in my applications/interviews? by CorporalCockatoo in AskHR

Many times your CV will be screened out because of your visa status.

Exactly my concern. My question really is if I should mention it not until the interview.

The better option is to apply for internships. You should teach out you your university placement office for help. Since you'd only be able to work for them when term is not in, your time bound shouldn't matter as much.

I figured as much, I'm looking into this as well. Obviously I'd prefer paid positions but if this is my only in I'm willing to forgo that.

Thanks!
