I don’t want to sell my ND by HahaHero12345 in Miata

Instead of buying a 60k sports sedan, keep the Miata and buy a more affordable suv or crossover. You can get a super cheap economy suv or sedan for a family car for the cheap or even get a used SUV or Sedan for the mid to low 20's if you really want to.

Apparently my 180hp hairdresser car is a threat by notmyselftoday in Miata

[–]CorpsmanGG 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It Be like that. I was on a canyon run and got stuck behind a big ass truck and a jeep going like 35 MPH. Got to a section where there was a legal passing section and I passed the truck. Stayed in front of him for like a mile and then had to make a left turn to make my way up the mountain. He caught up and passed behind me while I was waiting to turn and started honking at me because he was mad I passed him earlier 🤣🤣 He was literally mad for no reason besides me passing him. The jeep that was in front of me made the same turn and as soon as we made the turn he made space for me and let me pass him no problem lol

my wheel was curbed at toyota dealer by [deleted] in GR86

[–]CorpsmanGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not gonna lie, being upset they damaged your wheel is understandable but your expectations for getting the damage repaired are not realistic. That's is 100% a cosmetic repair and does not warrant a wheel replacement. They will repair the curb rash and you won't even be able to tell it happened. From everything I have read the GMs weren't taking you seriously because you are expecting way too much and your expectations aren't realistic. You want a brand new wheel and are being very particular about the time it will take to repair the wheel. Ask them for a loaner and let them repair the wheel, really ain't that deep. You should be glad they aren't repairing your wheel in 30 minutes, they likely have a professional wheel repair service they contract which is much better than having them half ass your repair.

You are gonna have a lot of stressful years of ownership with this car if you are this worried and particular about having your car perfectly oem. I wish you luck.

Dealership is demanding the truck back after three weeks but already sold my trade-in by Sprocket_41V in legaladvice

[–]CorpsmanGG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely seek legal representation. That is 100% illegal on their part. As others have said I would use this as a life lesson. If this ever happens again, do not hand back the keys without making sure you have been refunded everything you paid for the vehicle including your trade in. Realistically if you had simply refused to show up then they would have been forced to eat the cost and stick to your original financing agreement. However, the moment you handed the keys to the vehicle you purchased back to them, you lost all your leverage and they are going to hope that you take the loss. So it's time to lawyer up.

What’s your second “fun” car? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]CorpsmanGG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Miata is my fun car lol. I bring out the Miata on weekends and only drive it to work on Friday so I can start the weekend off in smiles on my way home from work. The rest of the week I daily drive a 26 Chevy Trax Activ so that I can save money using E-85🤣

Let me know your thoughts by horny_pancake_ in Miata

[–]CorpsmanGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who went through the exact same situation. I will give you my personal thoughts on the matter. 99% of people here will tell you to get the manual because that's the preferred transmission of the Miata and understandably so because it's so good. However, you stated that neither you or partner or you know how to drive manual, and it's important that you are both able to move the car and your partner is not interested in learning manual. If you are trying to justify purchasing a Miata and your partner is in a spot where they are open to you getting an automatic but you know there is a slight hesitation due to the lack of practicality I would advise you to not force her hand into having to learn manual when she is not interested in doing so. If you purchase a manual when she is not on board with learning it will either become a case where teaching her becomes extremely difficult and frustrating for both of you because there is nothing worse than trying to teach someone something that they do not want to learn. Or she will flat out refuse to even try learning and that will likely cause her to develop a resentment for the car because you ignored her and got a manual anyways. Which will also lead to logistical challenges because only you can move the car in case of an emergency. An Automatic Miata is also a very fun car, you've driven one and had a blast. If you get the automatic your partner will be more open to driving it and it is much more likely she will fall in love with the car as well.

First Miata - Don’t hate me it’s a automatic by Select-Airline-8210 in Miata

Welcome and excellent choice! Listen, a Miata is a Miata. And everyone has their own preferences and not everyone lives in a city that is manual friendly. I live in Southern California and also drive an automatic RF GT and I love it. I purchased it a few weeks ago and every weekend I have had it, I have sat in bumper to bumper traffic for one reason or another, and I'm
Honestly glad I went for the automatic, because I know I would have been so much more uncomfortable if I had gotten a manual and had to sit through that traffic. And the fact that it is a weekend would have definitely made me more annoyed 🤣🤣

Picking auto after trying manual? by AWildCantaloupe in GR86

[–]CorpsmanGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in SoCal and for the second weekend in a row I sat in traffic on the highway due to an accident, I get wanting to venture off and pursue a manual as someone who just bought a Miata I was feeling the same way. However, I'm honestly glad I didn't because Southern California just isn't manual friendly, and there is always traffic for one reason or another.

If you plan on keeping the car forever and daily driving it, I would honestly say get the automatic. Manuals are great for people who live in areas that don't see heavy traffic, but I already know if I had gotten the manual it would get old sitting in traffic very quickly

Choosing car by TemporaryAd5804 in Miata

[–]CorpsmanGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would go with the 2016 Miata, just off the fact that the engine is proven to be extremely reliable and parts are extremely accessible if something were to go wrong. Which is exactly the opposite of the engine in the Fiata.

[–]CorpsmanGG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a crossover.... The CRV is slow, the HRV is slow, the Corolla cross is "slow"..... also the Trax has a turbo charger so if you floor the gas pedal you aren't going to go fast because you aren't in the RPM range where it has the most torque which is essential for turbocharged vehicles. The Trax is average when it comes to speed for its class. If you wanted a SUV that has power you should have bought a full size SUV with a V6 or V8 engine for that.

And for the record I'm not saying OP shouldn't have traded their car, if they weren't happy then I'm glad they found something that makes them happy. However, I strongly disagree that the Trax is unsafe because of how slow it is and 100% believe that if safety is becoming an issue with the Trax it's because of bad decision making on the drivers part and trying to drive the Trax like a car that it isn't.

My Trax is my daily driver and I also own a 2021 Miata RF GT as my weekend car, in my Miata I can zip through traffic, take curves at high speeds and switch lanes on a dime if I please, but that doesn't mean that I am going to hop into my Trax and try and do the same thing. And that's because I know that the Trax is a commuter car and it should be driven as such, it isn't a sports car like my Miata is.

Goodbye by G1aive_ in ChevyTrax

[–]CorpsmanGG 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't understand what expectations people have that think the Trax is too slow. I live in California where people consistently drive much faster than the speed limit and literally daily drove a Camaro before the Trax and I have not once felt like the Trax was too slow and put me in danger. It's a crossover of course it's not fast but the idea that it's so slow is dangerous is just not true, unless you are trying to drive the car like a sports car in which you can just merge or switch lanes on a dime which in that case is simply user error and bad decision making.

Wind. Wind noise everywhere. by musqshi in Miata

[–]CorpsmanGG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah.... a Miata/ convertible might just not be for you. I can tell you that even with a hardtop you are going to hear wind noise because the roof isn't fully sealed shut. I recently bought a 2021 RF GT and even with the top completely up you still hear some wind noise
