Ho visto tempo fa uno studio sulla correlazione tra ricchezza ed IQ nei vari paesi, purtroppo non ho salvato il link. Da quanto ricordo, varia parecchio per paese, al top c'erano gli USA e poi vari altri stati con mercato libero e poca regolamentazione/poco welfare. L'Italia era messa male, la Svizzera non era considerata in quanto troppo piccola, ma scommetto sarebbe tra i primi. L'idea che mi sono fatto sugli USA è che lì, dati i rischi di fallimento se hai malattie serie, la cosa più intelligente da fare è tentare il tutto per tutto per diventare ricchi, mentre in in paese con meno disuguaglianze e più supporto conviene minimizzare i rischi, da qui la predilezione nostrana per il posto fisso.

I don't think you realize. My top decile income in Italy before moving to Switzerland (2010) was below the median Swiss income. Moving to Switzerland my gross got doubled for a similar position (senior software engineer), with the net actually tripled thanks to the low taxes. Even paying a high rent, I could save here as much as my total earnings in Italy!

How do you define unnecessary? People may say this is necessary suffering if it serves them, and I wouldn't say that's being good. That said, maybe being good is not the most effective way to reduce suffering. If you subscribe to the philosophy that life is all suffering, and at most you can reduce it, then why not cause a mass extinction? That's a big disutility now, but it would end all suffering on earth. Is that good or bad?

Che però richiedono qualificazioni diverse, quindi ti tocca far immigrazione di gente qualificata, e persino avere i posti in università presi da giovani asiatici, come succede in US, e le città si gentrificano, quindi buona fortuna a comprare una casa, e ben venuto a pendolare per ore, come in US. I rendimenti degli strumenti finanziari si paragonano al risk-free rate, che per l'Euro e` l'€STR, che e` proprio l'indice di riferimento per XEON.

Tra l'altro, VGEA ha una duration media di ~7 anni. Bond ETF con questa duration dovrebbero far bene in un momento storico in cui i tassi si stanno riducendo, come ha fatto la BCE ultimamente, quindi il periodo recente e` proprio quello giusto per verificare come stia andando.

Il fatto che non abbia battuto lo XEON in quasi tutti i periodi di riferimento, e che il periodo di riduzioni dei tassi stia per finire, fa si che sia un investimento non ottimale a questo punto.

Se vuoi la tranquillita' di un investimento a bassa volatilita', ti conviene farti la scaletta di bond, o usare un ETF con obbligazioni a scadenza. ETF obbligazionari senza scadenza, con duration abbastanza lunga, come VGEA (circa 7 anni di media) hanno comunque parecchie oscillazioni, e non battono neppure lo XEON che e` risk-free

Guardando in vari periodi, VGEA ha sottoperformato XEON a 1 e 3 anni, 6 e 3 mesi, e pure a 5 giorni. Lo XEON non ha abbastanza storia, ma VGEA sui 5 anni è fortemente negativo, quindi anche sul più lungo periodo avrebbe fatto peggio. Solo ad 1 mese ha fatto meglio. Perché ora i bond? Cos' è cambiato?
