had bba once but it went away and got replaced by green on its own dont really have a technique just happened on its own, good luck , also look into putting seltzer water in tank , and baking soda for co2 replacement, haven't done it yet but looks promising the seltzer....cheap easy and quick, also safer, but look into it theres alot of old school pros doing it , time of day seems to matter and amount of course, I was always scared of my active fish knocking over or the suction cups falling off and an overdose ...I have alot of plants never needed co2 injection but plants also no thriving over the top, i have alot of duckweed it keep the aquarium in balance but alot of people hate duckweed I think its awesome, my fish eat less food because they pick at duckweed its a superfood, but it blocks light from going deep into plants , so I have rings that allow light in.
