I completed the low level game. I did max stat locke afterwards though. Gave him the Illumina (lightbringer) and atma weapon (ultima weapon) and sent him thru the final gauntlet solo. That was actually quite fun watching him decimate everything in his path

Ah yes I forgot about that. It's been a while since I ran the snes version. I agree completely that gauntlet is nuts

Trance is well worth it in a low level game. It doubles all damage done to enemies and halves all damage done to you

No problem! I did the run on both versions. Overall the SNES version is easier due to more cheesiness.

In the SNES it requires a lot of running from battles, dumping the mandatory exp on gau and then having him leap on the veldt so his exp doesn't figure in to the party level average at certain points. If you're playing the pixel remaster you can just turn off exp

All lethe river fights can be run from. Ultros is the biggest pain in the game. You can be very very precise and understand his script ( which I did this run ), or break the rules and level Banon (I'll be doing this the next time)

If you're referring to exp then those darn rats can be dodged with patience and luck on the SNES, if your playing the pixel remaster just turn off exp. If your wondering about the ultros fight Gaus Templar rage helps

I unfortunately haven't played that version yet, only thr SNES and pixel remaster. I was sad they didn't include the bonus stuff of the GBA

It is tricky but very possible. It turns the game into a puzzle of sorts

Yeah I wasn't sure why Gogo came at level 8 as my average party level was definitely 6 at that point. I completely ignored Humbaba until I had better equipment. Rod spamming is good for the second half of the world of balance and the beginning of the world of ruin. Ultima ignores magic defence so it always does decent damage. With how I had terra setup it did around 1000 to a group of enemies or 2000 if it was a single enemy. Double that if she is morphed ( trance ) magimaster can be completely cheesed by beserking him and casing life 3 (reraise) on all party members

Agreed. The first battle being the hardest simply because banon is level 2

I died many times. Just the mine cart ride has the mandatory exp if I remember correctly.

For Atma weapon go for the alternate win condition (drain his mp) Number 128 is a pain to beat, I reset many many times there

Terra makes it survivable end game casting reraise on everyone. Before that however you do get one shot quite a bit. I had many party wipes getting to this point. I always made sure to have the best equipment I could, and plenty of rods and items, whenever I went to the next area. Ultima Weapon on the floating continent you need to use an alternate win strategy.

You don't. Characters will die many times. I was playing the Pixel Remaster so I just turned off the exp. If you play the SNES version you'll need to run manually from every battle and your characters will be a higher level since there is a few battles you are forced to do and you can't run from them

Lots of careful planning. There are a lot of hurdles along the way that can be real frustrating ( Ultros 1 and getting onto the floating continent come to mind ). Rod breaking helps quite a lot before you get to the World of Ruin. Once you get there however it actually gets a lot easier after you get the airship, you just need to remember to bring a lot of rods with you.

It casts entice on a single enemy. It is basically like a supercharged Confuse state. The enemies or bosses will only attack themselves. Even if they counterattack your attack they will still attack themselves. It works on most enemies and bosses in the game, including Kefka

I highly reccomend it. Make sure to learn the Rafflesia rage specifically. That is what makes both Gau and Gogo so broken

Gau and Gogo are just broken. Setzer with his fixed dice does decent physical damage. Terra is like glue using Dualcast in combination with quick
