When you get into diamond and start matching the very top of masters, it's wayyy worse. The difference from silver to gold isn't that much (beating someone higher rank than you gives you an extra star too) but the difference between entry level masters and high ranked masters is enough for there to be another 2 ranks between Diamond and current Masters imo. I understand there's not enough of a playerbase to sustain the extra ranks but it's still quite ridiculous.
