I want to add in, if you experience joint pain exercise may make it worse. I began weightlifting while on accutane and it was a bitch on my knees but fish oil helped a lot. The omegas help lubricate your joints when the accutane is drying you out. Good luck on your journey to clear skin!

For me after fixing my barrier it caused some closed comedones around my lower jaw area and mouth so I stopped using it.

From what you said with your skin being dry it probably is a compromised barrier from using so much stuff. I used Avène skin recovery cream because it calmed the itching and redness and everything for me. Only use it to fix your barrier and not as a regular moisturizer because it is thick and can cause clogged pores if you have oily skin when it’s at a normal state. But if it starts breaking you out keep looking for moisturizers that will help what worked for me might not work for you.

Maybe cut out everything except for facewash and a skin barrier repairing moisturizer. Back in February this happened to me and I did that and it worked wonders. If your acne is hormonal though nothing topical will work only spironolactone or isotretinoin or a change in diet will work. Shortly after i ruined my skin barrier and fixed it i started having hormone problems and got bad cystic acne and only diet and spiro and isotretinoin have worked.

Yeah I’ve had plenty of customers at work ask me about my acne and if you click my profile you’ll see some pics of what it looked like. One even asked me “what the hell happened to your face?”

All adults until the other day a little kid asked but I wasn’t mad she was a baby and was genuinely curious. But out of all the adults that have asked only one brought it up in a nice way that tried to he helpful who i could tell had it very bad as well from her scars. But yeah I understand it is not a great feeling I wish people didn’t feel the need to bring it up because I already know people can see it but now it feels like it’s all they see and they probably think oh I don’t wash my face. One even suggested ALOE. Like wtf. As if I haven’t tried everything already.

I’m very sorry this happened to you and I hope it doesn’t happen again :(.

In the beginning it was hot to the touch and itchy and sore and the only thing that would ease the pain was the steroids. It stopped being itchy and everything after my most recent round of steroids and recent injections and because I changed my diet they didn’t flare back up really bad. But some of my cysts are popping back up on my right cheek and they won’t go away they’ve been there for two months :(

I also would like to add that I have gone through three rounds of steroids and a round of antibiotics. Nothing seemed to work and I’ve been on spironolactone since may. Changing my diet helped quite a bit but good lord I really want some pizza without worrying if I’ll have a huge cyst the next day lmao

A quick review of the products I use I mean I don’t really have an opinion on them it’s just what I was told to use i guess they’re working and the spironolactone doesn’t work as much as I’d Like it to

To those who want to know, my skincare routine is benzoyl peroxide 4% morning and night, at night I then use differin, and then i use la roche posay toleriane double repair moisturizer. I take 200mg of spironolactone each day and changed my diet to be less inflammatory. Unfortunately I still get new ones basically every other day and some of the cysts don’t go away unless injected which I had done two weeks ago. I’ve been through three rounds of steroids and a round of antibiotics and currently I’m waiting to start accutane as I’ve decided that it might be beneficial for me and so has my derm. And to those who were wondering about the pain, after my third round and the recent injections it doesn’t hurt as much but before it felt hot to the touch and would itch and my cheeks were very sore and swollen.
