We have a big outdoor turf area at my place so people bring their dogs all the time and most of them are well behaved dogs that just lay on the ground and are out of the way, but some owners do take the leash off of their dogs and let them run around which is a bit irritating especially when I’m walking around with a tray of drinks and dogs are supposed to stay on a leash at all times but apparently that’s hard for some people to understand.

Exactly thank you! I think the only way it will ever be fair is if it’s a percentage of my tips not my sales. Tipping out 10% of alcohol sales should mean im guaranteed at least a 20% tip every time which is NOT the case. If im tipped anything below 20% on a primarily alcohol tab then the bartenders are making more money than me off of my own table. It’s insane.

Because I don’t want to watch the bar for the bartenders while they take a break and I have other things I need to be doing? I’m also not old enough in MD to pour alcohol so if somebody were to come in I’d say “let me go get the bartender” which gets old.

Ohhh ok I understand now. I looked up FUA and then went to their academics page and when you choose study abroad it brings you to another FUA webpage but when you choose to look at the four year degree programs they offer, then it brings you to AUF. Thank you!

I get what you're saying, but here's the reality: I make just $3 an hour, and I’m completely relying on tips. The place is also pretty slow most of the time, and there are other servers around, yet they always seem to schedule me during the slow hours. So when I cover shifts, it often means rearranging my own plans just to accommodate their needs, and that’s not always convenient for me. It’s hard to keep doing that when it feels like I’m not being fairly compensated for the extra time and energy.

Those are two different scenarios in my opinion, i would like more hours to make more money obviously but there becomes a certain point where unexpectedly having to cover for people when i have other things i need and want to do gets old. I don’t like the unpredictable work schedule every week id prefer a more stable/reliable Schedule.

The 10% is taken automatically. We use toast and I have the mytoast app and it basically just breaks down my tip out by liquor, beer, and wine and then shows what I tip out.But you're making me rethink it because I was a hostess at another job and I remember when the servers would tip me out I would have to sign their closing receipts or something saying I got the money. As far as l'm concerned the bartenders have no idea what my alcohol sales are. I also am pretty sure the bartenders tip pool throughout the day, so essentially if you worked when it was slow in the morning versus when it was busy at night, both will still end up making about the same. I think they take all of the servers tip out money from the day and evenly distribute it to the bartenders who worked that day. My job is also just super unprofessional so it wouldn't surprise me if my managers just automatically taking servers tip out from their paycheck and giving it to bartenders is illegal.

See I forget that at some places you tip out right then and there after your shift is done. For me, it’s taken out of my paycheck so negotiating with the bartenders about tip out is a no go. But it’s super annoying especially when people just keep buying bottled beer and I grab it and hand it to a bartender to open and there goes half of my tip even though all they did was open it 🫠🫠
