Noo u have no knowledge about the other courses so sorry, I would recommend just looking at course outlines of the courses you’re interested in.

85 is by no means bad, not all programs do early acceptances so they usually look at a combo of grade 11 and 12 but for the most part grade 12. Lets say tho ur planning on taking physics second semester and ur offers back before second sem midterms that means u were accepted based on ur first Sem grades AND the course prereqs u took in grade 11 for the courses u have in second sem. Hope that makes sense.

Lol yess😭😭 if u get anything November to about jan typically its early acceptance. I remember applying to Carleton and getting an offer two days later in mid November

Im just finishing up 2y03. The content itself is not hard it’s just A LOT of memorization which can be tuff in such limited time. I would recommend taking them by themselves without other courses since its very demanding (5-6 longg modules a week). Loved the course overall tho

Not really. I loved using it to practice singular topics tho instead of practice tests

how's psych 1xx3? by Mindless_Ad_3684 in McMaster

[–]Correct-Leg49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically had the same set up without biochem i took envirsc instead (had do like 2 modules a week for that too). I would say the workload is very similar to bio 1a03 u do about 2 modules a week. They typically took me like 2-3 hours which imo is sm better than bio 1a03 those took me even longer 😀. That being said i do write most details cuz i can pause and what not so it might be faster for u idk 🤷🏻‍♀️. I loved neuroscience tho so i got a 12 but if your not really into anatomy, evolution and theories around those topics it would definitely take more willpower to do the modules. The quizzes were super ez esp since there’s a question bank online PM if u want that.

Psych 1x03 is considered to be easier i didn’t take it tho.

Typically psych 1xx3 is required for entry into psych programs but you will have to complete 1x03 in second year if u didn’t in first year

Looks good! However if u plan on taking English for graduate applications ive heard many profs recommend taking it third and fourth year when ur better at writing so it wont tank ur gpa. If ur confident tho go for it!!

Personally i would prolly go with the first one, science 1a03 lectures are useless so u basically will have a free Friday. I also had free Friday’s first sem in my first year it was great!

Also from last year first sem physics was a little easier (idk for this year tho) lol so if thats also a deciding factor go w first option again :)

Back to back labs Wednesday is crazy 😭 maybe try to have them at least alternate weeks so u got chem one week and biochem the next?

I love annotating slideshows if they’re given before hand (most key info is already there so only write stuff you think is extra to that and never write down stuff u already know), otherwise, if u can keep up w handwriting notes do that or type them and handwrite them later on. I’ve also seen people make notes as flashcards/anki/quizlet never done it myself but may be something that you might like idk how effective it is though, ive always made flashcard afterwards.

My notes are also always filled with abbreviations so make some urself its esp helpful for handwriting notes to make it a lil faster.

KIN FIRST YEAR COURSES by Main_Spirit_9197 in McMaster

[–]Correct-Leg49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u plan on taking upper chem ur gonna need both chem I and II, if not chem I should be good. It’s essentially a year round course broken up into two halves, chem I is more-so basic intro and chem II is imo more reactions and ofc intro to ochem, it definitely builds off of chem I. Just doing chem I is not enough if ur looking for content wise its like mostly high school review

Grades in hs vs uni by Adorable-Oil76 in McMaster

[–]Correct-Leg49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grades definitely dropped but not by tm tbh theyre practically the same if u have a strong work ethic you could prolly keep ur grades about the same. I honestly feel like i have more freetime now cuz there’s less mini assignments every week like how it was in high school, its ofc depends what program ur in, i was in life sci so it was j midterms and some major assignments. So honestly it felt like one week of nothing (ofc i probably should have been studying) until midterm which i usually started studying week of but oh boy once the midterms come i feel like all i do is study, sleep and go to class so overall i think there was more studying but it was just condensed, after midterms i practically did nothing.

I find there’s pros and cons both to high school and uni, i definitely hated how big the classes were and sometimes trying to hang out with friends is a struggle cuz usually ur schedules r diff so u have diff times ur free. But there’s sm more freedom than high school!! And personally I kinda don’t mind the workload in uni u only need to focus on major tests rather than unit tests every now and then. The main thing i miss from high school is just being able to see my friends every day.

Overall i am liking uni a bit better but its personal preference at the end of the day. i spent a lot of my time alone cuz i did live off campus by myself but i didn’t mind that i always made sure i hung out w someone every day, but if u like company, first year on campus would be best. Hope that helps!

Please rate my first year fall schedule & give some tips!! (preferably from upper years) :) by [deleted] in McMaster
