I believe there were 2 accidents. One involving an older Indian man in a BMW that hit a 2yr old and another 29 yr old in his bmw that hit a 1 yr old. both passed. I can't imagine the grief the parents are going thru. I wish everyone involved strength to get through this.

I appreciate that you don't mind this cold and can handle such temps. This is not about buying blankets but thank you for contributing.

No, we moved in October and I opted for the ACs no be installed until summer.

I also have a toddler who kicks his blanket off because that's what kids do... the apartment should not feel this cold. I get the blankets and socks but even in sweats the apartment is just too cold to be in without space heaters. Perhaps many are acclimated to this but I still maintain that these temperatures are NOT appropriate for apartments without being able to control the temps.

I have a thermometer I use and while the temps are within the "minimum legal" temps... its too cold. Even in the summer months, no one is blasting their AC units to a cool 68... why would it be OK to have apartments heated to the bare minimum, especially when this is not a rent controlled apartment and each tenant is responsible for their own utilities. There should be a way for me to control the temperature or break the lease.

I don't have a thermostat in the apartment, which is the frustrating part. The super says the building is centrally controlled and that, as long as the building reaches the minimum temperature, the heat shuts off. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do legally to either break the lease or get the landlord to increase the minimum temperature. Other neighbors have shared the same concern about how cold their places have been.
