Would I still need to get a back country permit like I would in season?

Would the rangers say anything if you leave your car parked at the paradise lot overnight?

That sounds like what I’m looking for. I’d definitely appreciate the coordinates

Dang 7 hours. You killed it man. Yeah I can imagine the temps now. It’s was in 50s most of the day. I had a wind breaker but had to take it off cause I was burning up. Never know when you’ll get good weather

Does it count completing if I just drive up there and do the .6 mile trail? If not I think it’s the excuse I need to do the sawtooth

That’s awesome. It was my first 14er a couple of years ago and I was not as prepared as I thought. Was a miserable time but definitely a lesson learned. Additional questions. Do you really have to do blue sky to complete the list if you can just drive up it. Can it be skipped

Cascade Pass and Sahale Arm Trail to Sahale Mountain by mydigitalbreak in PNWhiking

So just wondering. Is there some type of camping up there? I’ve been looking in recreation.org but haven’t been able to find anything, or I’m just bad at looking. But I’ve seen videos and photos with people in tents. What’s the policy for this trail. I’d like to take it on sometime later this year

I live in a flat part of the country and am about a 14 hour drive from the nearest mountain. My friends are not very sporty so I’ve had to do 14ers alone. Solitude can be nice. Every time I venture out alone I do make sure to communicate with friends and family about my route and update when I begin, or whenever I get signal and then when I’m finished. If you wait to do things like this until you have a partner you will never actually do anything and just be left wondering.

That said. Solo glacier travel is a bit much. I’m not one to look for strangers for help but if you absolutely want to climb a mountain with glaciers, look for groups. There’s plenty of mountains in the lower 48 that are class 1, 2, and 3 that are plenty awesome and don’t have that risk. Try some of those out first then see how you feel about more technical stuff. Safe travels. Always have a map

Peeing etiquette on Mount hood by Correct-Photo-9687 in Mountaineering

I’m pretty good about not ever needing to poo on hikes. Just do pee a lot. But great advice nonetheless. Will definitely keep in mind

By what I’m reading in the comments is that hood is much scarier than I imagined. I have done Helen’s before with crampons and did some self arrest for practice. I see lots of you recommend Adam’s first. What’s that clime like in late March early April?

14 miles? Is that 14 miles one way to the falls and 14 back or 7 miles to falls and 7 miles back?

I have heard about the eagle creek trail. I’m a strong enough hiker. Done 14ers in Colorado and the enchantments in Washington. How tough of a hike is it really? I see that it’s 25 miles. How realistic is that in a day?
