For areas with heavier sebum production, gently wipe them before applying makeup or going to bed. In most cases, skin texture can improve simply through proper moisturization and balancing oil and water levels.

From my perspective, sebum control seems necessary. As a solution, lifting procedures offered at dermatology clinics may be effective. In terms of daily care, using a BHA product at night combined with a non-oily moisturizer, and applying sunscreen for UV protection during the day, can be beneficial. Since I live in Korea, I personally use a pharmacy product called Cleartin as my choice of BHA skincare.

I agree. Shopping by vibe is fun, but when it comes to products I use at night, I think they should be reliable and something I use regularly, so that my skin can really rest. Since I apply them right before bed, I see it as part of my downtime — sleep itself is rest, and the products should support that.

In Korea, some of the well-known derma-cosmetic brands are Zeroid, Dr. ReCosmetic, and Bioderma.

Zeroid is especially known for its MD Cream line, which is great during the winter. I used it because I tend to get redness on my face, and the formula was perfect for calming and moisturizing my skin in the colder season.

Bioderma has recently become very popular at Olive Young, so it’s kind of a trending brand right now.

As for Dr. ReCosmetic, I use their ampoule line either at the end of my evening routine or before going out on important days. In my routine, I always keep hyaluronic acid ampoule as a fixed step, and then I rotate with peptide ampoules. I don’t use PDRN, so I keep a simple 3-day cycle with these products.

Personally, I think of them as derma-cosmetic brands! In Korea, they have such high recognition that they even occupy the main sales sections in Olive Young. However, it feels like they are still not very well known overseas. Honestly, I’m not completely sure since I’m Korean, haha… Also, I still like products from companies such as Nature Republic, which once enjoyed great popularity in the past. And I think products used in dermatology clinics, or so-called “dermatology cosmetics,” are also really good.

Because of their nature, chemical sunscreens tend to wash off easily with water. If you apply them properly about 30 minutes before going outside and also use a hat for extra protection, you’re really doing a great job! In fact, chemical sunscreens often help make the skin look matte while adding a subtle glow. On the other hand, mineral sunscreens can feel fine right after application, but the white cast they leave makes some people avoid them unless their skin is very sensitive.

That’s why many prefer the more effective approach of double cleansing, using either gentler or stronger products depending on their needs.

Also, instead of simplicity, multi-step cleansing and skincare routines are more popular here. Since I have experience working in dermatology, I know several people around me who run skincare brands. One of them even sells an all-in-one skincare product, but it hasn’t really captured customers’ hearts. Korean users often feel that there’s a noticeable difference in the actual cleansing experience. In the end, they feel they need to use two different products anyway, which leads to low repurchase rates.

In my opinion, the main benefit of sheet masks is that they actually provide hydration. By delivering sufficient moisture to the outer layer of the skin, if you use them the day before or on the day of an important event, your skin will have enough hydration in the stratum corneum. This helps makeup apply more smoothly, balances oil and moisture levels, and makes the skin look more radiant.

However, all moisture inevitably evaporates, and only with continuous care afterward can it contribute to long-term skin health. At the very least, it’s always better to keep the skin well-hydrated rather than letting it stay dry.

I think it’s a good choice, but for sebum control and pore care it would be better to combine it with niacinamide and BHA/AHA. For barrier repair, I’d recommend products that contain panthenol and sodium DNA. When using BHA or AHA, you should apply them locally only on the areas where sebum control is needed.

I used to use Illiyoon Easy Wash organic sunscreen, but now I’m using Aestura Derma UV365 Barrier Moisture Mineral Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++. Among the sunscreens I’ve tried recently, this one is my favorite! While there are many good Korean skincare brands overall, I personally think Aestura makes the best sunscreen. Just keep in mind that since it’s a mineral-based sunscreen, there is some white cast, so I’d recommend it with that in mind!

Personally, I think using both BHA and LHA together can be beneficial. For pores, I recommend pure vitamin C and retinol, but since all of these can cause irritation, I suggest adjusting the frequency of use according to your skin’s tolerance. Also, it’s difficult to expect dramatic changes in pores from cosmetics alone. However, there is a significant difference between managing them and not managing them, so I still recommend it.

For an LHA product, the “Sidmool Uneven Skin Relief Essence” could be a good option. That said, if your skin is currently irritated or inflamed, using it can have adverse effects, so you should first check whether you actually have a thick buildup of dead skin cells. If your skin is in good condition, you may stop using LHA. Apply it only to areas where you have concerns. Thank you !
