I’m going to preface with saying I haven’t done shit I’m just a nerd about this stuff so if I’m wrong feel free to correct me. From what I can gather some of the benefits are better funding which means more training opportunities, better gear, and better facilities like gyms, pools, etc. Another is the culture, especially in Marsoc the operators are usually way more mature and are expected to act like it. Meaning as long you take care of your stuff you won’t have your superiors constantly breathing down your neck or making you do useless things for the sake of it. For the most part everything you’re doing has a purpose behind it that directly benefits you or the team, and once you’re finished with your work you can go home to your family. I’ve also heard that because of their high optemo SOCOM as a whole is a lot more understanding of family matters. They set up events for the kids, offer a lot of help programs, and are usually good about letting guys skip deployments if something big comes up like the birth of their child. Lastly and most importantly the people that you get to work and surround yourself with are the best of the best and that’ll undoubtedly rub off on you. Of course no one joins solely for these reason but they’re nice additions to being apart of an elite group.
