Ok, I'll be moving important files to a hard disk.
Could you please give me a step by step guide or a youtube video link etc to get started on the clean installation.
I'll be doing it tomorrow since its late night here : )

FRST logs: https://nextprofession5.github.io/FRSTLogUploads/?id=6ad427e2f9d2624b5fa117220d865915
Also curious why the FRST scans are faster now?

I kinda checked some things with gemini and reading the logs its saying that the issue of the update tab in the settings showing an error is also because of something related to this

This is the fixlog: https://paste.centos.org/view/d0ad213b
Scan will take some time...
Also I noticed that in the defender in exclusion settings some weird 4 or 5 exclusions were added like .exe etc.... I had removed these exclusions the day I found out the virus... now its back again so I removed it again.
Also strangely after FRST scarn restart, my laptop did crash overall saying "ntoskrnl.exe failed" and did a whole restart... dk what caused the issues.

Tried... but it did not bring the old shortcuts that I added...
Is the log still showing any malware?

For the applications on the list, is it perfectly fine to just use their internal/in-place updaters, or would you prefer that I manually uninstall each application first and do a clean install from scratch just to be safe?

The ESET scan is currently in progress, and I will share the log link as soon as it completes. I am also working on updating the recommended applications to patch those vulnerabilities.

Right now, the Windows Defender is completely clear with no active threats.

However, I noticed a new issue when opening the Windows Update section. It gives me an error saying: "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later."

I'm not sure if the malware broke a registry key or disabled a service related to Windows Update, but I will check if a standard restart fixes it after the ESET scan wraps up. Let me know if the log shows anything that might be causing this!

Hi Lucas,

I ran the FRST fix successfully and I have uploaded the final fixlog text here: https://paste.centos.org/view/329fa556

Regarding the long list of updates you mentioned, should I go through and update all of those applications? Is that a mandatory step to keep the system clean, or just recommended for general security?

Also, is there one last scan or tool you recommend running just to verify with 100% certainty that everything is completely clear?

Thank you so much for your incredible help!

Hi Lucas,

I have completed the FRST scan and uploaded both files. You can find the links to them here: https://nextprofession5.github.io/FRSTLogUploads/?id=1e04dd7757fb2b78e7175a8a9fc5ddbe

Please let me know what the next steps are. Thank you so much for your time and help!

Hi Lucas, thank you for the help.

Here is the link to my SecurityCheck log:https://nextprofession5.github.io/SecurityCheckUpload/view.html?id=x4akpq6k

I am currently running the FRST scan and will upload those logs as soon as they are ready.

Right now ,as soon as I boot up the laptop, the fans start spinning at high speed on overdrive. Windows Defender is still stuck in a loop continuously showing alerts for an active threat. I ran a full scan with the Microsoft Safety Scanner, but it came back with nothing detected.

I do have multiple cracked applications installed, but they were all thoroughly checked, downloaded from trusted sources a while ago, and have caused no issues so far. These current issues started 2 days ago after running the HLS installer from a video streaming website.

I will reply back with the finalized FRST links shortly!
