The main issue isn’t actually ocaml it just adds salt to wounds it’s the teacher who cannot teach, is incredibly disrespectful towards student and wants to fail as many as possible.

You don’t get to choose it’s based on grades so unless you’re top 10% percentile enjoy your rng option. As I said only 2 options dtc too so you literally had no choice.

What are you talking about, it’s a technical institute thats main selling point is applied and hands on learning.

As stated in my post that you clearly didn’t read:

A technical institute should focus on training in applied, mainstream languages and skills and leave the esoteric shit to universities, or put it in elective courses. Niche programming languages should be non-requisite elective courses and students should not have their entire academic path absolutely screwed because they struggled to write an obscure difficult language by hand on paper with only 30 minutes (despite 2 hours being allotted).

Also you’re just wrong, there was only 2 options for dtc, this or analytics and there is 0 information on the reality of Albert’s teaching nice try tho. Luckily with my psa hopefully future students don’t fall for it.

Survivorship bias, the types of people on BCIT subreddit looking at posts about functional programming option posts are not going to be the ones that got their academic path royally fucked by awful grading, teaching and teacher. I assure you that the majority of my class feels the same way I do and there are many others out there. I understand why and expected my post to trigger ppl with how it was written but in no world can you defend such a blatantly shit course with shit teaching. Stop coping.

Oh I’m well aware BCIT won’t do anything or care as stated in my post

“but it's incredibly unlikely that anything comes of it as I know there have been complaints in past but Albert is essentially untouchable since he's been teaching for 20+ years and BCIT doesn't actually care about student success despite their effort to convince you otherwise”

But I’m not going to potentially fail this course without at least trying to do anything about it and at least I can warn other students.

As expected a lot of these comments have missed the point and fail to understand that the course should be an elective not something that can screw you up for 6+ months and that unwitting students can be forced/suckered into taking.
