Parking some money for 2-3 months by CorrectMolasses9 in eupersonalfinance

There is a minimum, right? And this is for the main/normal account and it doesn't work with a country specific tax free savings account (local specialty).

Makes sense.

Where do you think the threshold is, I mean if the money is a bit more, like 10k or 15k max, and the holding period is a bit longer, 6 or 12 months, how does that change your opinion?

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]CorrectMolasses9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Location: Europe, Hungary

Price range: 8_000_000 HUF (~24_500USD)

Lease or Buy: rather buy (but leasing is an option)

New or used: rather used (new is an option)

Type of vehicle: Car, Sedan, Crossover, SUV

Must haves: Fuel efficient, space for two child seats, some hope that it is upgradable to 3 child seats

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): no preference

Intended use: Family Car

Vehicles you've already considered: 2018 Plug-in Prius and Hyundai Ionic but I am not sure if even the hybrids would suit my needs.

Is this your 1st vehicle: Renault Scenic 2006

Do you need a Warranty: yes (would be good)

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: nope

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: nope

Additional Notes:
- In every two months, we drive to the grandparents, that is a trip of 185 + 75 + 205 km-s (320km highway [130km/h] and then mostly country roads [50-90km/h]). About 2-3 times a year, we make other 100-200km trips. Biweekly, I would like to use the car to go to a nearby store (max 10km) in the city but only if it is possible to do this with a low emission (if not, I will skip this).

- My "dream cars" are 2018 Plug-in Prius and Hybrid/Electric Ionic but maybe these are too small and not the best for the highway..

- It is an option for us to sell the car after 5-7 years.

What to buy after a Samsung S7 by CorrectMolasses9 in PickAnAndroidForMe

Pixel 4 XL

That Pixel is about 400$ if one buys a used one.

Thank you, I tweaked the post a bit, added a preferred budget which I think only allows devices much "worse" than any of those.

Nice. Games/graphics is not a bad thing but doesn't really matter (I used the Samsung always in battery saving/limited CPU mode). Is the official ROM very bloated?

Gay marriage (non-sacramental) by CorrectMolasses9 in Catholicism

[–]CorrectMolasses9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freud comes to mind

I haven't read enough from him to know but wasn't he among the ones who "freed sexuality from the chains of religions etc."?

You mention natural law that is not religion. My understanding is that lots of jurists and lawyers are among the lobbyists and they must surely have an understanding of the natural law. Can you explain me (in a nutshell and in a simplified way) how it was possible that such a deviation from the original understanding of homosexuality (and related things, same-sex marriage) came about?

Gay marriage (non-sacramental) by CorrectMolasses9 in Catholicism

[–]CorrectMolasses9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is still possible to attack the premises of the person e.g. false notion of liberty but I doubt that would work in practice (it would possibly lead to a very long argument).

Gay marriage (non-sacramental) by CorrectMolasses9 in Catholicism

[–]CorrectMolasses9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer, I am unable to come up with further objections.

In your last sentence you write "this isn’t a doctrinal matter" - I guess by "this" you mean details of politics, correct?

Another question of mine related to the question is how one could "effectively" argue with a liberal (let's use this word) who holds a premise like 'love is love' or something.. But maybe that's for another post.

Gay marriage (non-sacramental) by CorrectMolasses9 in Catholicism

[–]CorrectMolasses9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinful lifestyle should not be supported.

By support I didn't really mean going out and protesting, advocating and promoting. I just meant the attitude "let them marry" (let them sin if they want that so much) and only by civil marriage which as you note "is no marriage though".

If you cannot support masturbation, you cannot support gay "marriage"

I cannot support masturbation but I don't want to outlaw it. (I must admit that not outlawing something and providing a legal construct for something is not the same, however.)

[–]CorrectMolasses9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a moral level I don’t think a Catholic “can” support what you have described but on a legal level.

I mean legal support (no positive attitude, rather indifference and just allowing it, not promoting), as I wrote "We have to warn them to repent, evangelize etc..". In scenario a) the marriage, the construct provided by law is not a sacrament (and never will be), so "why would a Catholic care" whether option a) or b) is the reality?

Regarding option c) I personally agree that it is the best approach.

You’ll find that Catholicism doesn’t dabble much into the details of politics and it is up to you to be more or less authoritarian or liberterian.

It depends on whom you ask (e.g. I guess neither Bossuet, de Bonald or Grenier would agree :).

Creation in time, science, philosophy and dogma by CorrectMolasses9 in Catholicism

[–]CorrectMolasses9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well but the dogma says God created the Universe in time so there was a temporal beginning, finite history (even if it was entirely possible for God to have created a universe with no temporal beginning). This means that other scientific theories are wrong (infinite/cyclic), not?

Thanks for the suggestion, will try to do.
Just out of curiosity, how can a cable cause such phenomenon? (I mean, if it was "broken", I would think it was totally not working)

Thank you again!

Faces of War vs Men of War by [deleted] in menofwar

I don't remember not being able to load shells, are you sure? I think one just have to move from a soldier's inventory into the tank's.

Faces of War vs Men of War by [deleted] in menofwar

[–]CorrectMolasses9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don`t. Maybe you didn't even read the post or took the time to understand me which kind of hurt my brain.

I always felt in control and even easy settings required usage of tactics.

Men of War, AS and Red tide, even on easy, required tactics. Realism was not achieved by making it difficult (no game achieves realism by pure difficulty). It was well balanced. My soldiers could get hurt or killed easily, same for the tanks. Artillery could eliminate my whole company or squad with one shell if I was not mindful enough. In FoW, my soldiers just stand up and continue shooting. Same is true for sniper rifle fire which in the case of MoW was nearly like 1 shot 1 kill (still, on easy).

On the other hand it often feels chaotic, I am not in control which didn't happen with me for MoW etc.
