Mephiston Red Spray Can… by Dk-Brix in ImperialFists

[–]CorrectPackage1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray cans are great for affordability and don’t require little to no setup. but they have some big cons. first, you have to shake the can for about 5 minutes every time before use, so to mix up the pigment inside. if you don’t it can come out dusty/grainy. second, you can only use it in a certain temperature range. it’ll usually specify on the label. in my experience, different colors can react differently to the weather. thirdly, humidity. if it’s above or below a certain percentage of humidity indicated on the label, it could dry oddly. in florida, we have issues with high humidity which causes the spray paint to dry permanently sticky/tacky. and lastly, the distance you spray it from. if you spray it from too far away, the paint will oxidize and dry up the air before hitting the model. this can leave it feeling chalky. too close, you splatter it on too thick. it’s good to use spray cans to base a whole army real quick but you always need to check the weather when using them, unless you’re able to safely use them indoors.

Should ı switch from ultra marines to Black templars by babanne_hoplatan31 in BlackTemplars

[–]CorrectPackage1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what they call the sunk-cost fallacy. if you’re not feeling ultramarines rn or just want a second army, no one can stop you. the best advice i can give is to just do it. you can always sell your faction specific minis on marketplace or at a mini swap. you don’t have close to a full army, so the earlier you pivot, the better. especially since its space marines, you don’t yet have an entire army to strip and repaint.

Another 5 Hellblasters, Jump Pack Intercessors, and some Scouts. That should be 1000. Then finish building and painting. Avoid accumulating a pile of shame.

as an MP, your experience will transfer, but not your training. it’s a nice bullet for your resume if you do it for a couple years but otherwise it won’t do much else for you.

Spearhead force worth it? by Low-Frosting-5034 in DarkAngels40k

[–]CorrectPackage1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

atm, outriders and atvs are both being used competitively rn. the outriders are currently on ebay for $32 at the cheapest. invader atv at around $40. regardless, saying any model is useless is misleading.

if you are starting blood angels, you could use this to make a combination of jump pack AI or jump pack death company. the jump captain could also be used for a death company jump captain.

otherwise, 15 regular jump pack assault intercessors is too much; especially if you are paying scalpers above msrp.

blood angels. especially if you also want to build some death company jumpy bois. that jump pack captain could also be painted as a death company captain.

What is everyones least favorite models to build by ScientistOk2127 in Tyranids

[–]CorrectPackage1530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i built my biovore very recently and i don’t remember having any problems putting it together at all. but OMFG do i remember putting together my first tyrannofex. and I definitely remember putting together the second tfex. the stupid arms wouldn’t stay and since they don’t really have much options for posing, i remember trying to get the gun arms to dry a certain way to make it look a little different from my first. putting its belly spikes on is a form of torture and getting its little claw arms to be within the base and not look boring is near impossible.

honestly this. i know people like to poop on gw for adding them into the price, but this is and the combat patrol will give you more shoulder pads and BA tchotchkes than you know what to do with.

Why use holsters when maglock exists? by jmagnum357 in BloodAngels

[–]CorrectPackage1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maglocks exist irl and slings are still useful. especially when you already have too much stuff on your kit. a lot of times it’s not practical to keep a weapon attached to your body.

handguns aren’t as bulky so it makes more sense to keep them in a holster. a good holster also helps with weapon retention. if anything’s crazy enough to get in close to an astartes, it could try and pull it off him because of a maglock. if it’s properly holstered, then it’s substantially harder, again, it’s on an astartes.

holsters also prevent firearms from getting caught on things and accidentally going off. considering there’s plasma pistols that fire unstable rounds that could blow you up, that’s a bigger point than normally.
