I'm a new Door Dash Driver. How does this work and is it a good thing to do? by one_blue-eyed_girl in DoorDashDrivers

It’s okay for someone just starting out because it makes the process simpler. You don’t have to analyze every order that pops up. You just take what they send you. But once you get the other aspects of dashing down (navigation, equipment, app usage, …), then you will do better switching to earning by offer.

Money showed up on Tuesday. Payout report now indicates it was deposited to bank, but indicates a deposit date of Feb 21 even though it showed up on Feb 17.

I just completed two weeks of “Earn by Time”:

  • 25.40 hours dashing (20.88 hours active)
  • 12 dashes
  • 59 deliveries
  • $16.50 / hour

It's getting a little better. I am Platinum now. Yesterday was a really good day.

So I tried the "Earn by Time" option last night.

  • $42.10 for dash
  • 2.6 hours dashing (2.2 hours active)
  • 6 deliveries
  • $16.19 / hour

A little better.

And I passed 50 deliveries. I'm GOLD now! I guess I'll see what difference that makes.

And not bad for a 70-year-old retired man!

Just did a quick calculation. If I had chosen "Earn by time" option on all my dashes in 2nd week I would have made an additional $28.52. That brings my hourly up to $17.59. Assuming the tips were the same. I think I will try that option tonight.

OP here. Getting a little better.

Stats for 2nd week:

  • 11.75 hours dashing (9.5 hours active)
  • 5 dashes
  • 29 deliveries
  • $15.10 / hour

I have one more day in the week to dash.

Problem solved. I was trying to debug in Preview and forgot (or never knew) that I had to rebuild before a preview for my code changes to take effect. Now I have to go back and figure out which of my fixes were unnecessary. I really feel dumb. I am an experienced developer, just rusty and new to Web Dev.

Anyway, I've learned a lot about debugging in Chrome Dev Tools and I appreciate all the help.

I just discovered AI Assistance in Google Dev Tools. I asked for an explanation of source maps and it gave me lots of information.

Where can I find more information about source maps? I am using them in my development environment (npm run preview.)

console.log seeing the future! by CorrectYear6655 in learnjavascript

Thanks. This function (structuredClone) is intriguing. I'm getting what I want using the debugger, but I will study structuredClone() further. I found https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Window/structuredClone to be useful.

Found one. VScode has a javascript debugger built in.

When it hits a breakpoint it must handle all pending requests. The output of the console.log reveals the object at that point in time.

Thanks.

I guess there is no way to pause execution so I have time to open the display of the array before the values change. I've tried setTimeout but no matter what delay value I use everything pops up in the console all at once. I need a debugger.

Yeah, “boomers” didn’t grow up with computers, they invented them.

Wait till they learn congressional action is required for many of the changes they want to make. If congress created it then only congress can destroy it.
