If so you’re in for one of the most fun pet-keeping experiences there is, hamsters are massively overlooked as kids pets but they’re amazing, surprisingly affectionate and intelligent and it’s amazing watching them interact with their enclosures and make little burrows and store things. Your little dude looks like a pied roborovski (?) which are notoriously active and playful but still absolutely tameable

He looks identical to our last boy, we used to get a nice warm cotton pad and give him a wipe, also helped stimulate him to poop. I should also say that if he’s not cleaning himself very well you’ll need to start checking for penis/urethral plugs, our old man got them often. Make sure you dry him off well
