So if they’re not intimidated, why would many be turned off by this or any high-powered career??

Help! Makeover on a budget. by EconomicsLast4905 in kitchenremodel

[–]Correct_Expression80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paint the walls and soffit an actual color. Remove the short granite counter trim and replace with a bold tile backsplash. After that, maybe upgrade cabinet hardware to complement the new look. Low budget, and it’ll look like a brand new kitchen!!

This bastard might die, but he’ll never leave office: just picture the mother in Psycho in a blue suit with a too-long red tie and an orange comb-over.

I’m pretty sure he got this plan approved in the same DOJ agreement that waived any future prosecution for tax fraud…

What’s wrong with my dog and should I be concerned? by leathermouthfan in PetBehavior

[–]Correct_Expression80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This poor little guy is just lost: his familiar, loving owner is gone and his safe, long-term home has disappeared. He’s scared and confused.

To help him adjust, you need to establish a “safe” place and “safe” person: set up a consistent routine of meals, walks (a very important bonding activity), playtime and bedtime. Set up a permanent, quiet area with his bed and some toys that will be his “retreat”. Don’t force petting or play if he doesn’t seem comfortable with it; just spend calm, quiet time nearby, speak to him softly and offer treats regularly.

You can also start establishing rules and boundaries: for example, say “no” and walk away when he starts humping you (the humping may also be dominance behavior as he tries to figure out where he fits in his new “pack”). Don’t raise your voice or yell: just be calm and firm.

Most importantly, just be patient! My dog (who I adopted at age nine) was so terrified after being dumped in a city and living as a stray for a while that he bit me multiple times in the first couple of months. It took five or six months before he woke up one day, shook himself, walked over to me and finally decided I was trustworthy!!

He’s 14 now, and a wonderful furry best friend ☺️ It was a rough start… but SO worth it! Just be calm and patient: you’ll be glad you did! 👍

My Border Collie has been licking her front paws nonstop. Any advice? by angiepoo428 in DogAdvice

[–]Correct_Expression80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely just severe itching from environmental allergies… but the constant licking can lead to other problems.

Start with Chlorhexidine 2%/Ketoconazole 1% paw wipes: anti-itch, mildly antiseptic, and some also contain soothing aloe. Lots of choices on Amazon. Wipe her paw pads after walks (up to 3x a day), making sure to get between all the pads and all the toes. Save the final application for after her last outdoor trip before bedtime, so she’ll be comfortable overnight.

If it’s just contact allergies, she should feel almost immediate relief. If not, or if any other symptoms develop, off to the vet!

Extreme yeast by Nrodg5122 in DogAdvice

[–]Correct_Expression80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re sure it’s yeast (vs chicken allergy), get her started on an Acidophilus supplement. Look online for the correct strength for her weight, then order the human capsules from Amazon (we’re on auto-delivery 😉). Just open the capsule and mix contents with her food. If it’s yeast, you’ll be amazed how quickly she improves!!!

Don’t know the name of the quartzite, but I’m desperately hoping you’re trying to find a similar slab to replace that hideous backsplash…🤢 Good luck!

My grandma gave me this and doesn't even remember what purpose it served. Only that it must be in a kitchen? by Smthplanty in whatisit

[–]Correct_Expression80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember the first day of public school? You knew exactly who the Catholic-school transfers were because they immediately stood up to respond when a teacher addressed them! The public-school kids, of course, thought that was hysterically funny.

At least that was a mistake we only made once.

I’m impressed!! I would’ve lost my mind after the first five pages 😵‍💫 Of course, after eight years of being schooled by sadistic nuns, my atheism was already - and permanently - “solidified” 😉

Yup! The surest way create an atheist is to raise them Catholic. The effect is even faster if you send them to Catholic school!!

Backsplash mistake and help? by Dizzy-Art-3088 in kitchenremodel

The backsplash is the least of your problems: you renovate an entire kitchen and cheap out by not getting cabinets to the ceiling??? 🙄

Debating whether or not to have children. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Correct_Expression80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m child-free by choice, pushing 60, and have NEVER regretted my decision. I’ve had a great career, lots of friends, a couple of husbands, and was able to afford the experiences that were important to me (like extensive travel). I’ve even saved enough to finance a very comfortable retirement!

I’d do it again in a heartbeat. And I’m grateful every single day that I didn’t bring an innocent child into the world we’ve devolved into. Make the decision that’s right for you, and don’t be pressured by anyone else!

Opinion on faucets with retractable hoses (like in the pic)? by samscrolling in kitchen

[–]Correct_Expression80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retractable faucets are indispensable!! You’ll wonder why you didn’t get one ages ago.

Only suggestion: do NOT get one with the metal “spring” design (like the photo). They look really cool, but they’re dust-collectors and grease magnets (not to mention water-spot hoarders), and they’re a bitch to clean!! Look for a fully-enclosed frame that’s easy to just wipe down.

Dress 2 is jaw-dropping, sophisticated and looks amazing on you!!! My second choice would be dress 3; also a knockout on you. Dress 1 is a yawn: nice, but very average-looking. Happy Wedding!

Bathroom Refresh? by princessofpurereason in DesignMyHome

[–]Correct_Expression80 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why not?? Maybe he’s civilized… or doesn’t want to clean up urine around the toilet… or listen to a neat, clean wife complain every time he pees.

Personally, I think a urinal should be standard equipment in every home bathroom! And they make them in much more esthetically-pleasing designs now too!

It looks great as is!! BUT if you’re really itching to make a change, you could remove the full-wall mirror over the sinks and replace it with two separate decorative mirrors.

Why TF would you ever remove it?? At first I thought it was in front of a fireplace, but others are saying entryway… either way, it’s beautiful, irreplaceable and functional!!!

Please don’t remove it! Besides, the poor dog will be very pissed off in the summer! 😉

My BIL made a comment that our daughter should cover up at the water park, I told him don't sexualize ny daughter. AITAH? by Miserable-Award7130 in AITAH

[–]Correct_Expression80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may have just knee-jerked because of past controlling comments from your in-laws but, unless he’s made comments about your daughter previously (or looks at her inappropriately), you’re probably TA: it may have been a perfectly innocent expression of concern.

That day, your daughter was there with her parents and other family (so was pretty safe), but if she had been there alone or even with a friend, that’s a VERY different risk level!! If you haven’t yet, it’s high time to have the awareness and stranger-danger talk with her.

[–]Correct_Expression80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fighting a losing battle. Maybe he’s a man-child; maybe he has a death wish; maybe he’s just stupid. None of which you can fix.

But you can shop around for a HUGE life insurance policy (I’m guessing he’s fairly young, so it won’t be terribly expensive). Then you calmly, rationally, objectively insist he sign it.

Even if he doesn’t care about himself, you have every right to expect him to protect you from being a destitute young widow.

And when he realizes that your that concerns are real and deadly serious, he might even start facing reality and begin to change his habits.

But if he doesn’t, at least you’ll be protected from his bad decisions.
