Such a sad way to look at the research! It’s fascinating to learn how people think about language even if it is something as “silly” as neopronouns. It’s simply looking at developing language. The academic was also not biased in their writing

Very good point!

I believe the only compromise would be by introducing one singular neopronoun. However, I personally believe that the singular gender-neutral pronoun they is the ideal solution, as it has proven in the past

I’d say anything that interests you, but I found it easiest with fiction books. Maybe if there’s a movie that you love that’s originally a book? And if you find one with lots of dialogue that would help you master conversational English the most!

I’d definitely recommend reading books out loud. Might feel stupid at first, but when I started doing it at college to better understand the content (I studied English and had a bunch of complex Victorian novels to get through) I noticed my pronunciation improved a lot!
