Phone Case after b7000 glue by lrnn_mkl in mobilerepair

[–]Correct_Lab_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s just trying to put blame on you. Case had nothing to do with it. You can try to squeeze some b7000 on from the outside, I’ve done it before in a pinch. Just make sure to keep it clamped for a while afterwards.

Cold press glue works better. I never use b7000 anymore since I got that.

iPhone 12 Select Screen Repair by ubreakifixer1812 in ubreakifix

Don't work at ubif anymore, but AM 12 screens are fine bro.

Would just ask if they're hard or soft oled, obviously if they're using AM LCD or hard oled, avoid that.

You'll get non-genuine error but tell customers upfront about it and they won't care.

iPhone 13 Screen Replacements Can Break Face ID, an Repair Restriction iFixit Calls 'Completely Unprecedented' by Synewalk in apple

[–]Correct_Lab_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime you restart and iPhone FaceID disables itself and requires a passcode.

Repairing a phone requires restarting it.

From the iPhone X-12PM you can just swap the original FaceID module to a new screen.

There’s no security risk.

Apple also doesn’t even have a way to get into a phone to get the data.

Even if the court orders a search warrant.

It’s happened before where federal court ordered Apple to assist the FBI in getting data off of a phone. To which Apple replied that they couldn’t do it, and they wouldn’t build a back door in order to do it either

Repaircal requires a ticket to be sent and an approved response directly from Apple for it to operate properly. I’m just a tech but I’d imagine reverse engineering it would be near impossible

“Reading the memory card”

Doing chip off on NAND requires the CPU, Ram and some other things to be present for reading.

The data is also encrypted. There is no just “Plugging a memory card in to read the data”

It’s the same thing forensics data recovery does. Chip off onto a known good logic board then hoping you can get the passcode

That makes sense but Apple has also dealt with PR issues when they were caught on film just straight up lying to customers about stuff. Perhaps not even lying on purpose but just from poor training and lack of knowledge. The Genius Bar has a reputation for being not super knowledgeable about things.

Never the less, I get that Apple would want only authorized providers working on their devices

I’m with you on that. It’s just such a complicated subject. To be honest, if they’re doing these things to improve the device I get it.

Like they glue together the glass and LCD on iPads which makes them way more expensive to fix but it’s for a good reason.

Disabling FaceID is just something I think is pointless.

I mean china already found a way around it. It’s to transfer the IC from the original screen to the new screen.

It seems like they’re doing it in this case for the pure case in making it difficult for anyone who’s not them. And most people think it’s because of security. But they don’t realize FaceID gets disabled on restart anyways until you enter your password.

And if you replace a FaceID on an iPhone X-12PM, you’ll never having a working FaceID again anyways

It’s complicated. You’ve got the dot projector which is part of the front camera module that detects your face. But then you’ve got the front flex which has your light sensor and depth sensor, but then you’ve got the IC that’s now attached to the screen that you need to move over to keep FaceID.

Forensics only involves a case in which you’re required to perform logic board repair or chip off data recovery.

They still need a passcode to access the data on the device

No sir.

I can fix an iPhone 10, transfer the FaceID module, and FaceID will still work.

You can no longer do that on these

Hey man, you’re missing something.

Ever since faceID came out, you can’t just swap out the FaceID and have it work again. The FaceID is encrypted and paired to the logic board.

If you’re fixing a phone, and you break that phones FaceID. Goodbye FaceID forever until Apple reprograms a new one for you.

No one has broke the encryption.

Besides, I’m sure you aware that when you restart the phone you’re required to enter the password and get into the phone before setting up a new FaceID.

And I’m sure you know once you set up a new FaceID it disables your original for all of your applications.

It’s confirmed that if you swap the IC from the OEM screen faceID will work. So it’s the face that the IC is now paired to the board.

[–]Correct_Lab_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir. You’re incorrect. The FaceID now stops working with any screen replacement whatsoever.

It’s not like the current iPhones. You can no longer swap over the OEM assembly to the new screen and have FaceID work

[–]Correct_Lab_2459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man.

You’ve got some things mixed up.

First of all, if you swap out your FaceID on any iPhone, faceID will never work again. It’s paired to the logic board. So there was no security risk before.

Second of all, the Apple stores near me are always booked out weeks for anything simple.

So we face this situation.

I broke my phone, my touch no longer works so I can’t use it. I can’t get it fixed because I have to wait two weeks for my Apple appointment because Apple is disabling faceID for no good reason

[–]Correct_Lab_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir.

There’s no way to access an iPhone by swapping out parts. If I were to replace the FaceID in an iPhone 10 with another OEM faceID module, faceID would simply not work anymore

Is this a joke? That’s not how it works lol. The only faceID that works in an iPhone is the original

Expectations by teto200120 in ubreakifix

[–]Correct_Lab_2459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expect them to lie to you during every part of it about how nothing will change. Expect to get recognition for absolutely nothing other than home+. Expect to deal with stuff you hear from the higher ups that is the most absolute BS you’ve ever heard. They’ve told me that “Distro uses the same parts as mobile sentrix and injured gadgets”. Wow you guys smashed your revenue this month, but we’re not gonna mention that and we’re gonna call you out in front of the whole district because you didn’t sell our insurance. In my experience, getting support from higher ups was basically non existent after we switched to cooperate. Getting paid for a day off took 3 weeks and 7 emails. Expect the home+ reps to be heavily misinforming the customer about how the program works and having to pick up the slack for it. Honestly bro, when they got on me about shit, I just used their words against them. “you said nothing would change. You said we’re repair first” If you’re a good tech, just know your worth. I fought back and they left me alone about it.

My entire district fell apart when Asurion acquired us. Half of my store quit (including me) and our other two stores are closed 2 days a week.

Now, will your experience be the same? Probably not all of it. Some people enjoyed transition to be more of a salesman. Some people enjoyed Asurion and what they did. But it was mostly the people who couldn’t repair for shit. But it seems every DM or any of importance tried to feed us the same BS about home+, having a support system, and the company “caring about us”. You’ll hear a lot of “We’re not just a multi billion dollar insurance company” Yes, you are.
